Thousands of people die daily, and not every one of them is natural causes or pleasant. The civilian casualties were a bit much, yes, but it's over now. It wasn't a "little squabble", but people were indeed pretty paranoid over it considering the sort of things that go on every day.

Also don't bring national pride in to this.

This will not escalate into WWIII because all major nations are involved in the conflict in Iraq. Britain, USA, Australia, and all of the other nations are not going to risk a conflict with Russia. That country is just too unstable. Russia will do whatever the hell it wants. Georgia will get screwed for trying to take territory that "technically" belongs to them. Russians are the assholes, but Georgians are also somewhat naive.

technically Georgia was Russia they separated thanks to the USA and now they want the rest of there land which is really Russia's. But really Georgia need's to give it up Russia could crush them easily and it makes the US look bad for being a supporter of them and then they go and try to take over Russian lands.

Several people have already corrected you, but I mean, come on, the Wikipedia link I posted makes it clear what's happened. In addition to the Wikipedia article, my friend finds this extremely interesting for some reason, and so, like I said, watches it like a hawk, so I don't doubt his word.
