It's a proven fact it works. All of the boats ran by Channel Island National Park in Ventura county Use Recycled Vegetable oil in it's boats to get from the mainland to the Islands. What they do is lix it in with some diesel fuel with it, so it's at a lower percentage, and run them. Straight Vegetable oil in a diesl engine will damage it over time, but works great out of the box with no refining or modification to the oil itself. Mixing it with other agents tends to reduce that wear caused by it.shadowkhas wrote:Yeah, like I said, I don't know. All that I've really heard is from a forum specific to my car, and a lot of people reported around 5 MPG gains. I still would rather do some testing by myself to be able to tell if it really works though.G.I.R. wrote:I've heard that this method doesn't work either. The only 'fuel saving' method I've heard of is the bio-fuel stuff (used french-fry greaase, etc.).

Oh, I know that THAT works. I was replying to G.I.R.'s remark that he doesn't know if a light acetone mixture with normal fuel will help it.Cuda wrote:It's a proven fact it works. but wait, with burning vegetable oil, isn't it still giving out harmful emissions, or maybe just not as much? it's a good idea, and would be easy to implement without having to change alot of stuff, but i just feel like it's a temporary fix and we should move to electricity.
ASPARTAME: in your diet soda and artificial sweeteners. also, it's obviously completely safe. it's not like it will cause tumors or anything. >.>

Apparently, Such additive is supposed to help lower the damages caused by straight vegetable oil on a Diesel Engine. If used together, it lowers the viscosity of the oil and allows it to move through the fuel lines quicker, without losing power due to diluting the fuel and reducing performance.shadowkhas wrote:Oh, I know that THAT works. some scientists are still questioning is water a unlimited resource and even if it is theres so many cars wed be running out of water faster then it can renew itself were so Dependant on cars that it would drain all are water off the earth.
and if we move to electricity it will just pump up the rates of fossil fuel that is used to make electricity, and we still haven't found a way that can make as much energy as burning fossil fuels.
