uber haxorz Caboose
Since I consider myself in training for parkour, I've started working out. I decided that I'd start with push ups and situps, because they excersize some core muscles, and are pretty basic.
First Day
40 Situps
22 Push Ups
I didn't consider it bad, since it was the first time that I'd tried working out in like a year.
Second Day
109 Situps
22 Push Ups
I was sorta confused, because the first day I could get out 40 situps before tiring, and today, I got through 109. Yet, with push ups, I was able to do like, the same amount.
Just goes to show how my upper body strength is terrible, and always has been. I plan to change that.
And this video just makes me happy...

Overtraining. I mentioned it earlier in some thread, don't feel like digging up the post. You wouldn't do 109 reps of any exercise with any of your other muscles, there's no reason at all to do that many for your abdominal muscles. Treat them just like you would your biceps, triceps, etc.Aumaan Anubis wrote: 109 Situps

If you want your six pack, do some work with your abs, but honestly you don't have to do a whole lot... just lose the fat.
I used to sort of do that, with pushups. After I hit 70 pushups I realized I needed to branch out and focus on my whole body, not just one section. 60 is probably my max now, but I don't really mind it a whole lot, I'm probably looking better now than I did then.. I'm a skinny boy though, I want to gain some mass (I hate being 145 pounds, to be honest. Some people would love that weight I bet, but I want to be in at least the 180s...)

Ah, gotcha. I didn't know what parkour was, then afterwards I saw his youtube link, and I see what he is (or wants to be) doing now.
That actually looks pretty sweet. I can see all the Assassin's Creed lovers wanting to do this
(Hey don't tell me you've never wanted to do the crap that you can do in that game)
The one move where they sorta do the swan dive then right themselves with their hands is so frickin awesome.. The black guy in the beginning of Casino Royal did it (if you needed further explanation of what i'm trying to say) I probably couldn't do half the stuff they do on there (maybe physically, if I trained for it, but i'd be scared shitless) I'm probably going to try to figure out how to do that move though. Is there a name for it?

Six pack would be nice, but as GTAF said, I'm just trying to build up. And if the Staff at the school accept the club application, I will be doing that stuff.Kirk wrote:Ah, gotcha. I believe that it's called a "Kong."
http://youtube.com/watch?v=P2cDCAVYiXU
That video will tell you the names, and basically try to "teach" you to do them. And by "teach," I mean, it tells you what to do, and then says go practice.
And GTAF, I didn't think that it was overtraining. You could probably tell, but I have minimal experience in training. I'll keep the advice in mind.
Parkour is 50% practice, 50% being stupid enough to try it.Kirk wrote:I probably couldn't do half the stuff they do on there (maybe physically, if I trained for it, but i'd be scared ***)
I'm currently working on perfecting my "roll," because you know, safety first, and the roll pretty much makes it so that all the shock is transferred and not focused in your legs. I've also learnt that rolling on a hard wood floor is not pleasant
