Fuck them Both.

Flash ftw. I wish there was a cheaper way to mass produce Flash Drives to be used in place of the disks. Countless times have I seen disks be rendered useless because of small scratches and such, and a flash drive to me seems much more sturdier. I love them, and I hate CDs.

I don't care about either. I'm fine with the lower quality things.

It won't really matter to me until the next game consoles are around that use it. I don't care that much about higher quality movies, as we don't have an HD-TV, I just watch movies on my 19" monitor.

Cuda, This is for you;

Also Tuesday, Toshiba said it plans to spend more than 1.7 trillion yen ($15.7 billion) for two plants in Japan to produce sophisticated chips called NAND flash memory, which are used in portable music players and cell phones. Production there will start in 2010.
Don't be.

I did the same. I personally really wanted to see HD-DVD win just to see what Sony would do about it. I also knew that this wasn't going to happen... but it was a fun dream non-the less.

HD-DVD more Consumer friendly

Blu-Ray more Producer friendly

Betamax for the win.

This is an arguement I see fairly regularly...I'd like an explanation as to why.
The only way I can think of with consumer friendly is that it was cheaper (which bluray will now have to get in order to compete with the cheap DVD's and upscalers) and that it was quite possible to crack the serial number and steal content...

The latter point obviously goes towards Blu ray being better for producers, but really what else is there?

Actually, bluray costs more to produce so I would not say it is producer friendly.

Blu-Ray production costs are more than HD DVD costs because a Single Layer HD DVD is 15GB, whereas Blu-Ray is 25GB. Blu-Ray discs cost about $0.30 less per gig than HD DVDs do. It costs less to produce a Blu-Ray disc than an HD DVD disc of the same capacity. So in reality, it is less costly/more cost efficient to produce Blu-Ray than HD DVD.

Yes the producers like Blu-Ray more because of it's DRM , it's better than HD DVD's. Also many consumers don't like it because it uses a Java based platform so they can install things on your player with out you knowing to stop things like pirating I'm pretty sure. HD DVD wasn't region locked either.

Heh, my visions a little off, so I barely even notice the difference. ;_;, I mean, like if I squint real hard, then like unsquint, then like, let it focus, my vision shrinks in, and becomes less blurred, and grey, and becomes more sharp. Like I can see the black outlines on the letters of words on posters.
