The thing is, if it did require that taxes were raised:

Some people simply don't have money. Some people just get bad grades because they care for their family and that means skipping school just to help their family survive, raising taxes to take from the poor and give to the rich hardly seems like a good idea. I mean, lets face it, if you're richer you probably have a higher chance of having a good education. And being rich basically gives you an easy way into colleges. Being poor gives you nothing, and this won't help them.

Standards for Decent paying Jobs have gone up so far that it's near impossible to earn a decent living in this time of day on only a High school diploma. My dad got a few years at a JC out of High School, and now gets paid a Half Mil annually after taxes Minus Overtime. Such a Job is Impossible without some formal schooling from a college.

To be honest, this Idea is smart, but not too smart. It WILL get kids to attend and attempt to achieve, BUT The money used to pay off these kids is going to cut into their actual funds, meaning less quality Textbooks, Cheaper food, (The shit they give us is already County Grade...) and overall education quality will be lower.

If you read some of the article, I think it said something about also paying adults to have a job. I don't think that is good at all.

Sucks for all those tax payers in NYC that don't have children in school.

I think school should really NOT pay people who do good. I think school's should be tougher in the sense that it won't always be fair. Heck, you're getting something worth more than a few dollars a month; an education that could help you actually get a JOB other than Chuck E. Cheese's or Mcdonalds.
