Why do you enjoy modding?

I enjoy modding simply because its a challenge. Doing something that is easy would not be fun. When I ask for ideas for a mod/hack, I always ask the person "What is impossible?" Well, quite a few things are not happening any time soon (due to work) but it's fun to dream. One day I will work on some of those projects. I enjoy making something and working on it much more than using it and playing with it.

My favorite thing to mod is particles and shaders. I just like having a different style of graphics.

I mod to Improve

I mod to put my own little ideas into games, in this case halo 2. Like, to be able have an idea, be able to mod a game and implement that idea fully is great. Then on top of that, adding new game play and strategy elements to the game, and changing the way it looks (skinning or otherwise) radically changes the way that the game is played. This is very satisfying, but what is the icing on the cake, is to have other people enjoy what I do, other people wanting to play what I make and enjoy it with their friends like I do mine. To have people saying to me that the mods I've made here made them start modding or that they play it with their friends is really quite orsm. That makes me enjoy it more, that I my own fun creates other people's fun.

And another, much more basic point is that I like creating new, unique ways of killing my friends...awwww how cute.

If only I didn't run into so many problems with modding and modding apps these days I'd be doing a whole lot more modding.
