Intellectual property.

It's bad when both sides of the argument are incorrect to a degree.

mod chips are illegal period. You could be charged, but I don't think they would go as far as arresting you unless you were being uncooperative.

Other create it and design it, copyright it, they have the rights. Apple went around with cease and desists for the OS X aqua theme for windows and they also did the same for the iPhone GUI for windows mobile was it?

Bungie knows of us. If they wanted us shut down, we'd be shut down by now. Don't worry.

We were even mentioned on their site :D probably a few times...
but the time I remember is before the 1.1 update, how this site closed down for it.

I don't think they've specifically done an article about us, but they had a feature on the creators of the H2_Zanzibar match and did a Humpday Challenge against them.

The overwhelming ignorance is this post is disgusting. Yeah, we should totally fight the government and make everything legal, fuck copyrights! No. That's a horrible idea. Just no. Seriously. Also, they won't be shutting down these sites.
Andrew_b wrote:Well...we should be fine. He was probably modding XBL was he? I cant read those papers because i dont feel like reading them (and alot of you probably didnt read the whole thing either).
Live modding has nothing to do with it.

Anything that circumvents the copyright protection is technically illegal. Modchips and softmods alike. However, it would be unimaginably unlikely for an individual to get in legal trouble for personal use of such a thing. The person in this thread was likely not just doing it for himself, he was probably selling modchips, or offering to mod consoles, or something. I don't believe he was just some guy modding his own console.

I don't know the guy, but I'm going to say that was totally un-called for. People like him are what back websites like us up. Without modchips and such, where would we be? Also, people like him are likely in quite some trouble right now.... I don't see what's funny about people trying to help others mod video games getting in deep shit for what they do.

I meant people like him are pretty much the backbone of this website. Also, just because someone gets arrested, doesn't automatically mean they're bad.

doesn't matter that was completly uncalled for. Who knows you could be next. Since when is it funny getting arrested and having all your belongings taken away?

Modding Halo PC, maybe?
I don't see what's funny about people trying to help others mod video games getting in deep **** for what they do.
I'd say that around, oh I don't know, 100% of the people I know with a modded xbox pirate games. It would be ignorant to think that even most of his customers were getting a chip to mod games.
