As I said, I'm in the Army National Guard, and have been part of this branch for about three months.

I was going to join the Army, but I decided to join the National Guard instead, for two reasons:
  • The Army National Guard recruiters live a lot closer to me than the Army recruiters.
After doing extensive research, the only real difference between the Army and the Army National Guard is that the ARNG has more benefits, and the ARNG, ironically, goes through more training.
I am enlised for eight years: six active duty, and two reserve.
[ive seen alot of reports and other types of media...]
I am not by any means trying to argue with you, so bear with me.
When it comes to news and media, there is a large bias. The only unbias news comes from the BBC, and we see almost exclusively liberal bias on the news in America. I know a lot of people that have been to Iraq, and most of them loved it there. If you do your research, there is actually a waiting list in some branches for people that want to go to Iraq. Not only that, it is true that we have people die over there, but we have taken out large threats, such as Saddam Hussein, and are on our way to establishing a Democratic government.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is, don't listen to the news on topics that can be debated. Leave it to us Americans to have to incorporate our opinions into everything. :)

Anyway, THANK YOU for those of you who support me. It really does mean a lot.

I support the soldiers. I do not support all causes of the war.

I'll agree with you here.
Some argue that this war was uncalled for, but when you look at the facts, so was Vietnam, the Korean War, World War II, World War I... the only "war" in American history that was really necessary for Americans to involve themselves in was the Revolutionary War.

Actually, in WWII we were directly attacked. But still, that is beside the point.

We were directly attacked on September 11th. Some say that we should not be in Iraq because it was not them who did it. Those people are neglecting the fact that it is the War on Terror, not the War on People Who Attacked Us. Anyways, I don't support the "official" reasons for the prolonged war in the Middle East, but there was justification for initial operations. However, I do not feel the conflict should still be going on in the same way.

@XBC-Requiem:
the media and reports i see is from the BBC and ive seen videos on youtube showing solders....well not enforcing what their sent to do lets leave it as that...
i wouldnt say it was a complete american effort that managed to capture saddam hussein it was a collective of efforts from the allied forces and, in total truth it was the iraqis that took him out they judged and hanged him america didnt.
i realise you have people die over there as well ive heard enough about that on the BBC reports and such

I support the troops immensely, they are putting their asses on the line for you. Now, the administration giving them orders is a completely different story for me. But any person who signs up for the military has my full respect, it's a very brave and honorable thing to do. I myself would never sign up for the military, it's not my thing.

I totally support you and I support all soldiers. My dad was in the Marine Corps for 20 years, my Grandpa in the 101st Airborne. I also don't agree or support all reasons for war or as JK said, the administration that gives soldiers orders.

I can't stand when people who don't know what the fuck they're talking about say that the soldiers or the military in general is bad. They seriously need to fuck off, but I have great respect for you, don't really know you, but good luck wherever the Nation Guard takes you.

And bricksarefun, you are one of the people who need to seriously fuck off.

Man I gotta love the Irony of this topic.

We got Requiem, Who's joining up and going to protect our freedoms, and on the other hand, have an ungrateful dick like bricksarefun, who abuse these privileges to defame the Military that protects these very freedoms.

Indeed. Without the military, you couldn't say the military sucks. You'd have no freedom of speech. :|

I agree with JK-47, but I plan to join the military when I'm older, because. . . well, for a lot of reasons, but mainly to be better able to protect the people I love both while in the military and after I get out, if I do get out.

I pretty much agree with JK-47. Although I might join the military someday.
Also, best of luck to you. I hope that you will not be in any immense danger when you are shipped off.

It's always good to have the Staff on my side, especially now, so that I can also speak my mind truly... I TOTALLY agree with you. I think that the majority of the American population neglets to realize where we would be without the Military.

Wow, Tural. I think that this is the first time that you've been on my side. :)

I don't choose to agree or disagree based on the person. Maybe we've just had bad topics of discussion in the past. =x

Agree 100%. I might end up doing a short service after I graduate from high school, I don't know. I support what you're doing (though I only support the military standpoint to a certain extent), and wish you good luck.
