He wasn't calling you ignorant coco :)

While I only really listen to stuff like Nine Inch Nails and such, I still try to expand what I listen to. Some hardcore is ok. On the subject of it being emo, just no. Hardcore isn't emo, it's hardcore.
On the subject of emo, get over it, I don't know why people are such emophobes, while some things they do may be ridiculous; there are things that other people do that are rediculous too.

Anyways, I'm not a huge fan of hardcore, but I'll listen to a little sometimes.

Backstreet Boys. Totally. Fucking. Hardcore.

But in all seriousness, I've been listening to In Flames, Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgir, but I listen to all genres. Though in my very honest opinion, the singer from Cradle ruins an otherwise awesome band, a guy singing like a 5 year old whining and crying isn't very good in my book :|

There's a lot of non-emo bands that have a Myspace page. They use it for promotional purposes.

True. My sister for example-her and her friend do a acoustic duet. Not emo whatsoever. They have a myspace page for their band.

Agreed. Slayer isn't even really hardcore...I guess you could call them that, but they really feel like a different subgenre to me than bands like Slipknot...

Bands like Cradle Of Filth, Slayer, stuff like that are not Hardcore, they are just Death Metal.

I wouldn't call those bands punk. If you want punk, listen to The Unseen, The Casualties, and Lars Fredriksen and the Bastards...

and I agree with the Death Metal statement. Hardcore =/= Death Metal.

Proof

Replying to the original poster:

I haven't really gotten into hardcore that much at all, a few of my friends like it, but I went to a Catherine concert once and it was sold out. I also like Sleep Terror and Necrophagist, and I guess Chimaira is ok, although I have their CD primarily for seeding.
