Initially I was a bit reluctant to adjust to the new look, but now that I've gotten used to it, I have no complaints other than reduced functionality on mobile devices(probably because of the flashy graphics).

some people love it some people hate it.

The staff position is not an award for members who did good work in Halo. That's what the outstanding forums are for. I've been a staff member for a very long time, and while I see where you're coming from, I can only name a few people who didn't actually "deserve" staff status.[CL]9mm-Man wrote:What I'm saying, is the staff here are not different than any one else and that is a bad thing, why? Staff should be more than just any one, they should be sensible, polite and careful thinking. The past 2 years of staff members to me seem like a bunch of random member names put into a head and the ones pulled out were made staff.
I understand this is an online forum and having peers as staff is a must, you dont want to see too detached from everything, but back in the day, the staff members were legendary, they actually deserved the staff status for their work in Halo.

Re: What do you think of the "new Halomods"?
I have come to the terms of what has happened here, I had to right away, only thing I disliked was the lack of communication between SourceGuy and the Staff at that time. We as a community rely on the Staff to let us know of anything that happens that might affect us, being our only real link to the Admins. We all have agreed that this was not handled in the bet way it could have been. We cannot change that now, I hope this analogy does not come out sounding bad, or meaning anything that it does not, but it is similar to being a young child and your parents moving, you grew up in this very close neighbourhood, everyone was friendly and you had a bunch of other kids your age to play with. You cannot stop your parents from moving, and you know you will not see any of your friends again. Regardless if you want to or not, you have to move with them, so make the best of it. We cannot fix stuff that has happened in the past, so lets not dwell on that. Only thing you can do it make new friends at your new home. I think we should all stop posting complaining about "change" in the sense of the forum skin, forum layout, and site ownership. Seeing that was not what this thread was made about.
Re: What do you think of the "new Halomods"?
Good post. Also, there are several topics in the Complaints and Suggestions forums going on right now with debug collection. If you guys want to help us out, hit up a current topic or create your own and let us know if you see anything.

If I had recieved such a reaction from the public as this, I would personally try my hardest to undo just about everything I had done.

Re: What do you think of the "new Halomods"?
I've been a member here since halo modding consisted of swaping offsets in a hex editor in Halo 1 on the Xbox. I've watched this community grow and wage war against itself. I've seen the poor attitude of some staff members drive away what could have been a great member base. This new direction is what Halo Mods needs to stay alive. Gren didn't have the time to run the site himself and the team that handled the transistion of have done exellently.
If you don't like whats happening you can leave - no one is forcing you to stay. Whats with all the sigs questioning whether this is Halo Mods ? What do you hope they will achieve ?
Either grow up and contribute or leave and don't look back.

Please stop driving away members. Halomods needs them to stay alive.

Halomods doesn't need members who are constantly going to attack the way the site is being run. Constructive criticism in the correct places is what you should do - not start a thread trying to rally oppisition in the café. Use complaints & suggestions.Tural wrote:Please stop driving away members. Halomods needs them to stay alive.

Re: What do you think of the "new Halomods"?
Thanks SamPH, but it's alright for now. Several posts have been a bit on the edgy side when it comes to the rules, but we've allowed some leniency to gauge community response. That said, though we acknowledge all the points posted here, The Staff are pretty firm in our direction regardless of what a few angry mobs say or do. Those who aren't here to just thrust their pitch forks into the air are currently helping out in the Complaints & Suggestions section, and we're addressing each post the best we can.
Re: What do you think of the "new Halomods"?
Thanks, but I'm perfectly capable of understanding the proper mediums through which to voice my opinion. Furthermore, if you had taken the time to read this thread, you'd see that we've actually resolved a lot of the issues here, and I think that should be our priority, so please, drop it. You're causing more problems than you're solving (Causing this argument to occur again and solving absolutely nothing).SamPH wrote:Constructive criticism in the correct places is what you should do - not start a thread trying to rally oppisition in the café. and really the "new staff" aren't so bad.
and some good people that really deserve it are staff now i.e SHOUT
someone who surely deserves it, one of the most polite members i have seen.
many of the others i do not know much at all, but they have their accomplishments
you may not be aware of them, but the administrators are.
i think its a fine choice.
and more members will arrive due to the fact that this site is now more appealing than before.

He's not saying that it wasn't his choice... he's simply stating the fact that he liked Tural as Staff.

Re: What do you think of the "new Halomods"?
Cobain wasn't disputing that either; just restating for his own purpose as well. There has been a lot of misconception is to why people left, so he was just making in clear is to his understanding in regards to the following paragraph in his post. Also, thanks Cobain.DrXThirst wrote:He's not saying that it wasn't his choice... he's simply stating the fact that he liked Tural as Staff.
Before I forget: there was nothing personal to my knowledge between specific Staff members. I know of a few arguments, but no one took any sort of spiteful pleasure in seeing anyone go. I've worked with Tural, Gametag, and Shadowkhas as Staff for years -- with DeToX for several months, so it was a shame to know I wouldn't be side-by-side with them once more. That said, I think it's a good thing that the Staff exorcised their rights to step down in a unified effort; rather than watch the site in disagreement with what was going from high-ranking perspective. It throws the team off balance, and it was a courteous step for them to take. This post wasn't an attempt to reopen a currently healing wound, by the way. I just still see some people assuming a lot of tension between Staff and Ex-Staff that may be there to a level, but not on the degree people are thinking.

Originally they did. Obviously you wouldnt know that has you didnt join at the start. The mods and admins were the guys who started to mod Halo, the guys that made the tools we've all come to use and love.Ombre wrote:The staff position is not an award for members who did good work in Halo. I cant really comment about Tural, as I have no idea who the hell he is. He may have been an awesome staff member I dunno, what posts of him I did see though, I thought were pretty unconstructive on terms on giving HM back its life.

All outstanding issues have been resolved, newer or less active members are just coming here, not reading the entire thread and are bringing this back around in another loop.
