Hey Everyone!
Been a real hectic 2 months. Btw it's been 2 moths 5 days since the bombing.
The military has been very nice to us. We've gone to the Brigadier Generals house in Picatiny and ate dinner there about a month ago. They also gave us season passes for their little water park that's inside the base.

Gotta see a shrink now. They think that me and my mom might be suffering from Post Traumatic Stress. It's really bad because they started blowing stuff up again so now everytime my mom or I hear a noise we jump, kinda scary actually.
I'm stuck sleeping in my sisters bed and off course the hole is still in the ceiling (We patched up the roof though). So now every night at about 11 they set off the last boom and I wake up to be staring at the huge hole in the roof.

For anyone that was wondering what happened they finished the investigation. There gonna give us the results soon. What happened is they were blowing up 105 Howitzer shells off of the ground. They haven't told us what caused such an explosion but it somehow flew 2 miles over a mountain range and hit our home. The hole in the ground from the initial blast was huge. I have a picture of it on my step-dad's phone but I'm not sure if I should post the picture. If I get permission I will.

Just wanted to check in with the site, kinda keep everyone updated. BTW if anyone was wondering....
N0 we d1dn't g3t 1 BiLlIoN d0l1ars.

honestly, they haven't paid for or done anything about the house yet

Why can't he be having PTSD? If it is like he describes:

Then why is it BS? :?

"Post-traumatic stress disorder is a type of anxiety disorder that's triggered by an extremely traumatic event. ."

Trauma

"a physical injury or wound caused by an external force which may cause death or permanent disability."

I dunno, its my opinion.

Really? Wikipedia is not your friend. Theres been cases of PTSD from Soldiers all of the time, especially in Iraq, theres been cases of soldiers in Non-combat positions coming down with it because of close calls with Mortar fire. If you don't think having a large shell fragment through your roof into your room as a civilian won't fuck you up, dude you're dead wrong. plus, PTSD can occur from not only physical harm, but being threatened by physical harm.

You're smarter than that. At least, I hope.

Ever heard of emotional trauma? A loved one in the family dying can be a traumatizing event. In the same way, military equipment creating a whole in one's roof and killing a cat can also cause trauma.

I'm glad to know that the military are starting to pay you back. Those tickets must be a temporary measure, surely?

Oh, and by the way, if you ever get into the army yourself, mortar the general's house. 8)

Meh, what ever. I would be a little freaked out if a shell did hit my house, and killed one of my dogs. I would be pissed, but I dont think I would need to see a shrink.

Having had this happen to you, you can say with full certainty how you would react, right?

I thought I mentioned why, but guess not.
It's mandatory, Our lawyer said that before anything can be done we must all see a shrink.
Also, I just found out on Friday how it happened.

This is the whole run-down.

In Iraq, the terrorists have been blowing up shells similar to the one blown off, and when these shells explode they launch many small pieces very far, which can in turn hurt many people. They have been trying to make it so when blown off larger size pieces go flying. Larger pieces go less far and usually have less casualties.

They were testing off a 155 (Before I said 105, my bad) howitzer shell. About 3 feet tall and 100 pounds. They said that usually the pieces are big and just kinda tumble through the air about 100-300 feet then hit the ground. They blew this one off and for some reason the top piece of the shell broke off and because of the immense heat and pressure from the blast the shell actually morphed into a flat piece and "Frizbee'd" through the air. Because the piece was flattened out and spinning it had less forces exerting on the piece which is what allowed it to fly so far. They said that then somewhere almost above the house an immense amount of wind caused it to go from a horizontal position to vertical. Then it continued to spin, straight down into my roof. They said the chances of this happening were to low to even predict.

The one thing they did say is because of this happening they have a whole new safety facility being made to make sure something like this (Although impossible to begin with) will never happen again.

Also, please no more arguing in this topic. I would hate for it to be locked.
