Colleges!
Re: Colleges!
fishface617, [gx]Shadow goes to RPI. I don't know if you know him, but he's slightly less active now-a-days. He was a modeler back in the day for CE projects.
Anyway, I applied to:
Coast Guard Academy
Wheaton (Illinois, not MA)
Gordon
Grove City
I was going to apply to more, but I got kind of lazy after I found out I got into the CGA, which is my top pick. Shipping out to Swab Summer June 29. :X

Carnegie Mellon isn't the best choice for some one going into engineering.fishface617 wrote: Im going into engineering, here's my list:
McGill University
Rensselaer
Northeastern
Tufts
Olin College (reach school and a half)
URI
Case Western
Tulane
Fordham

*Unless FleetAdmiralBacon has anything to say about it. The jerk probably went there and fixed up all their courses just to prove me wrong.

Re: Colleges!
Depends on the engineering. Computer Engineering? Most definitely a top pick.Zieon_Eslador wrote:Carnegie Mellon isn't the best choice for some one going into engineering.
Here's a more complete list for me:
MIT
Case
Rensselaer
Ohio State University*
Ohio Northern*
Northeastern
Dayton*
* I have been notified by these colleges already and offer significant sums of money.

Everything you'll ever need to know about me.

Re: Colleges!
Out of curiosity what does your extra-circular look like because I have seen kids from my school get rejected from MIT with 1500's (out of 1600) and 5.5 (6.0 scale) GPA's; however, I have none of their extra-circular information and personally I will try to crank it into over-drive this summer. I am applying there too, but from what I have heard is that you can literally ace the SAT/ACT and have a straight A+'s but still not get in without that extra flair that says "I am Mr. Fantastic!" (Da-NuhNaNah!!) I am not saying this to put you down nor anyone, I don't believe that I will get in and I have no idea as to what anyone else has for grades/scores/extra.FleetAdmiralBacon wrote:Depends on the engineering. Also if anyone can point out any good Engineering/Math/Science/CompSci schools much appreciated. I want to broaden my list.

Once again, no hate here nor put-downs intentional

Only if I go there, though.

Re: Colleges!
Goin' to Bakersfield College now. Graduating with an AA this semester, then going to either Cal State Bakersfield, Cal State Fullerton, or Long Beach.

President and co-founder of my high school's computer club, Marching Band for 4 straight years, Jazz and Stage Band. NHS member; MAΘ member; routinely compete in the Ohio Math League. On the subject of out-of-school activities, I do a metric ****ton of programming and open-source stuff; photography for my local Special Olympics; plenty of real-world work experience in my area of study. I have 4.1 on a 4 scale, I aide for teachers two out of eight of my school's periods.CompKronos wrote:Out of curiosity what does your extra-circular look like because I have seen kids from my school get rejected from MIT with 1500's (out of 1600) and 5.5 (6.0 scale) GPA's; however, I have none of their extra-circular information and personally I will try to crank it into over-drive this summer. That makes sense. Sarcasm!FleetAdmiralBacon wrote: I have 4.1 on a 4 scale
Also, MIT and Stanford are more or less impossible to get into, so I wish you luck, but I don't care who you are when I say this: don't get your hopes up too high.

Re: Colleges!
Ah, but every year ~1,600 people make it in to MIT as freshmen. Maybe I'll be one of those this year.mxrider108 wrote:That makes sense.FleetAdmiralBacon wrote: I have 4.1 on a 4 scale

I have applied to:
Wentworth Institute of Technology
WPI
UMass Amherst
I got accepted to Wentworth today, and I am going for Computer science with a concentration in computer programming.

Re: Colleges!
Finishing up my sophomore year at the University of Dallas. I am a math major but plans are to get my masters in computer science, then possibly off to become a biostatistician. I will probably graduate when some of you folks will be graduating for the first time.

Re: Colleges!
Just had a meeting with my counselor about where to apply next year and majors and all that... so apparently I'm best suited for Rensselaer. But the price tag...

Re: Colleges!
Got into Daniel Webster. For whatever reason, they are giving me $10,500 a year based on my performance (eh, my 2.4 GPA).
Not complaining one bit haha, covers pilot costs (certifications, etc.).
