Protip. When you have a kid, give em an old reliable car. A bunch of my friends in Highschool got fairly decent cars as their first cars (either hand-me-downs from the parents... or they'd buy an okay one.)

I know when my dad first gave me that truck I was like "... thanks?" because it was such a junker... but it was a fun car.

Plus, when you're learning how to drive... you're going to be an ass to the car whether you realize it or not... don't do that to a good car haha.

@met

I know, when I got in my accident... I nearly passed out when I saw the front of the car... which in all honesty wasn't too bad. Then when I had to pay the $248 towing bill to get it home... then another $55 one to get it to a shop... and then a few hours labor on the truck (haven't been billed yet...) just to find out that I can't afford fixing it... And of course... I got two $71.50 tickets for hitting the guy too...

Not how I wanted to let the truck go... :(

This might sound kinda mean, but scrap the truck? Get your money back?

Either that or find an enthusiast forum for that type of truck, and see if you can part out anything that's still in relatively good condition.

The only thing of actual monetary value in the truck are the tires... Well.. they're already like a year old almost, but only have about 4K miles on them.

The engine has almost 500K miles on it and the whole truck is fairly rusted to hell. (It was from Wisconsin... all the salt/snow really takes a toll on vehicles)

I know I'm not getting it running again, but I have to atleast go grab some stuff out of it and say my goodbyes before sending it to the junkyard or wherever.

It is a 93 GMC Sonoma (AKA a Chevy S10 ... basically the same truck...) There isn't going to be a junker work truck enthusiast forum haha.

EDIT:

My brother sent me that pic a second ago... from before I moved down here.

xbox7887: At least yours still looks like it's in running condition. :p
Kirk: You mean the frontal tag? It's hard to tell because everything is faded on the actual plate. I'll have to check with my Grandfather. And thanks, it was a damn awesome truck back in the day. The speakers were better than you'd think, and it could make a helluva lot of noise. :)

I'm too lazy to get pictures, but I've got a big diesel truck, because I'm manly like that.
Not really easy on the wallet.. Even though I don't pay for gas. $100+ per fill up.

That car is tight. The 70s were the last decade of cool car designs, with a couple of exceptions in the 80s.

Angular was so much cooler than the horrendous things that America pumped out for many of its "muscle" cars.
The 5.0 Mustang still looks awesome today...

Are you kidding? The 80's were full of plastic unreliable pieces of shit. As were the late 70's. Only car I'd tip my hat to is the Testarossa. But only because Kavinsky made that killer song about it.
