You just cannot pick a target the size of a man and hit it with an artillery shell about 4 inches or so diameter (I pulled that figure out my ass btw). modern science cannot pinpoint where a shell will hit, ever. There are tons of factors which affect their trajectory, wind speed and direction, angle of launch, power of explosive I could fill a book! Ever heard of the term: shellshock? Soldiers in WW2 and such were mentally shall I say... messed up by the horror of artillery shells landing around them. think of that, instant, unpredictable death or maiming. The only shell I can think of that would not explode might be from a caribbean ship cannon or a civil war mortar cannon shell(I should know I own one of those civil war shells).
As for exploding in mid air I don't know, maybe it mis fired or something.
Come to think of it bombs have been known to fail to detonate when a dive bombing launched them. I imagine the high speed and force must have busted the fuse before it could detonate.
You hawwaian modder were very lucky me thinks.

Why would a military artillery shell explode?
That makes no sense.
What would that do?
As for exploding in mid air I don't know, maybe it mis fired or something.

So why does it explode?

It is impossible to account for all variables. I'd like to see you show me an equation that predicts the trajectory of a piece of shrapnel generated by an explosion. I'd be interesting in knowing how you can predict the exact rotation, explosion, wind, and all sorts of other stuff that would affect such a piece. Simply proving a single direction from an explosion would be pure luck, as to do so you would have to know every possible thing about the explosive material, any possible variations in any of the metal, as any of that could cause a change in the trajectory caused by the explosion.
Really, that's just an absurd claim to make, that you could anticipate something like this.
tl;dr: No.

So why does it explode?
Because it has explosive inside it... and explosives.. explode. Get it now? Like I said modern science still cannot pin point the exact spot a shell would land in, as others have pointed out that there are too many variables.
Sarcasm isn't easily conveyed through simple online text.In translation, MindFights, I believe that JK-47 was being sarcastic, and everyone except you understood that.

But the force of the 'splosion itself would obliterate the cans anyways.Cuda wrote:Yes you can toss a Grenade at a row of cans and hit one. No saying that the resulting explosion will send shrapnel at the rest of the cans...

Most of us are able to catch it in most occasions. For instance, the post you just quoted was probably sarcastic. Just, uh, so you know.MindFights wrote:So why does it explode?
