Well, zombies and vampires are mutated humans, no? So, the question still stands, which one were they in the movie?
I wouldnt say zombies and vampires are mutated humans. Zombies are dead humans that somehow still have life (dont exist). Vampires are demon humanoids that suck blood (dont exist either).
Zombies aren't always undead. Take Resident Evil 4 for example. They're still alive, they just have an infection that makes them extremely aggressive. There are many types of zombies (that I can think of off the top of my head): biological, chemical, and possesive (possessed by demons, like Doom). In I Am Legend, they were humans that were infected by a virus that was engineered as a cure for cancer, but instead turned everyone into vampires/zombies, whatever they were.
DarkSeekers... :\

The manikin does move in the movie. My guess is that it is trying to freak others out or to show that he is paranoid. :?

*Mannequin.

For such a slow film, more should really be explained between action scenes.

It had the potential to be a brilliant movie, instead it was just average. In my opinion, anyway.

I enjoyed it, but... meh. :|

I watched it yesterday. First half was good, but the later parts of the movie were kinda lame.

Edit: I think the part where he has to put down Sam was a very nice and clever tool to connect to the audience, because almost everyone has experienced loving, then losing a pet.

There's three things I didn't quite get though.

1.What do the DarkSeekers feed on for 3 years? Everyone is either a zombie or dead.

2.What do the DarkSeekers do in the night? In the scene where Robert Neville and his dog are trying to sleep in the bathtub, you hear inhuman roars and screeches, which hints they run wild outside at night. To do what? All they can do is destroy stuff and wander around aimlessly...

3.Before Robert is hanging upside down in his SUV, there are two DarkSeekers that charge at him to make his SUV tip. This was after the 'leader' of the Darkseekers screeches, as if to instruct the two Darkseekers to charge at him. Aren't they suppose to revert to extremely primary instincts? They seem to have their own language. =\

I asked the same questions as you. My friend and I came up with this:

1. We just assumed they fed off all the wild animals.

2. My friend thought that was the dark seekers chasing/hunting/eating the animals. And their screams too.

3. I also thought he was the alpha or leader. The chick vampire (someone pointed this out earlier) seemed to go along with him. I don't understand why Dr. Rob said they lost all social interaction. Seems like bullshit.

Oh, and I assumed that the mannequin was moved by the vampires.

There were way too many plot holes.

Some which could probably be explained, but only by assumption.

Like, where was he getting electricity, running water and gas (he cooks, right?) from?

Like, yeah that could be easily answered by saying he has a generator or something, but they should have shown that... and how did that woman and the kid drive to New York City when the bridges were shot down?

I would have much prefered some explanations rather than watching him reciting some Shrek script for five minutes, and complaining about having no bacon.

I'm pretty sure it showed multiple generators in the beginning of the movie. At least I think that's what they were. Not sure though.
