Double posting, new discussion, bump, etc.
Those are different than "terrorists." Those are organized, official militaries of sovereign nations, not groups of radicals that are spread out, and that are wherever they want to be, because terrorism is an IDEOLOGY. Have we defeated Communism? No. Will we ever defeat it? No. Whenever someone likes it, it is not defeated. You can't defeat an idea.
Oh, and it's not a for sure statement that we would belong to Great Britain right now if we didn't have a war. Canada never fought Great Britain, and somehow they became independent.
What attack from Japan during World War I? I assume you mean II.XBC-Requiem wrote:Without the military, we would not have survived the attack from Japan during World War I...
The Revolutionary War would not have happened and we would belong to Great Britain...

Isn't it the point of unalienable rights to be always endowed upon a human being, without them having to do anything for them? Aren't they basic principles that need no extra work?XBC-Requiem wrote:I decided that I should earn my rights, not have them handed to me.

Haha. I meant II.
My bad.
Yes, I realize what they are, but it's easier to say Terrorists, because that's what everyone calls them.
Yes, these rights are part of living in America. But I still feel that they should be earned, not given to us, as they do in Israel. They have a mandatory... I'm wanting to say 2 years in the military... something like that.
Also, say nothing in reply to me about this. This topic is something that I'd rather not be a part of. I've spent too much time being disrespected for joining the Army to care to discuss it with people I don't know.

I'm doing directly what you told me not to do, so sorry.
Being in the army is an honour.

A majority can imagine what it is like though.jim20af wrote:requiem said about being disrespected for being army, and i was saying that those people being disrespectful don't understand what the military is like and what people in the military always go through

I'm not entirely sure if that's true either. There's a big difference between thinking you know and actually experiencing it. It's almost the same as walking to school and thinking "I'm going to punch that bully in the face" but not actually doing it when you get there because you found out why he's a bully... and it's really quite sad.
The best way I can possibly think how bad it could be is thinking of the worst that could happen, and multiply that by 5. It's incomprehendable.

That's what I said. Then I went to boot camp.warlord wrote:A majority can imagine what it is like though.
Ten weeks in Hell.
I'd heard the horror stories from friends, from family, even from a teacher who was an infantry officer (11A) and retired as a First Lieutenant, which means that he had authority over 19 ranks. He knew his stuff.
The civilian mindset simply cannot understand what it is like to be in the military.
