rc cars (answer edited question)

Post by mr_penguin »

if anyone is into rc racing, what is a good electric car/truck/buggy ready to run (RTR) to get thats under $200. It doesn't matter what company it is and it needs to be an off road type.

I have a rc10T4 SE RTR and thats what my friend wants but he doesn't want to spend over $150 for one but I'll pay an extra 50 if I need to.

Here's a list of rc's that I think are good to get. I just quickly searched for some so these may not be the best.
  • == TRAXXAS ==

    -Bandit Extreme Buggy w/XL-5 ESC $179.99
    -Rustler Stadium Truck RTR w/XL-5 $199.99

    == Sportwerks ==

    -1/10 Raven ST RTR $189.99
    -1/10 Raven BX RTR $189.99
EDIT: Is Tamiya a good company because they seem to have a lot of cheaper cars
Edit: Can I use different electronic parts from different companies?

Team Associated make some good ones. Also, you might want to buy a higher end models like the E-Maxx, any of the HPI's(The e-Savage is Killer, but the Wheelie King ones are fun to an extent.) or one of the Team Associated buggies.

Why not go for a Gas powered car? I know you can buy Used ones from eBay for a decent Price.

Like a 2.5 T-Maxx (the one I got :P ) for 89 bucks,
or a HPI MT2 for 179 ?

Well, My dad and I have been building an R40 and even now in it's incomplete state, got it clocked at 84 MPH. We Still need to get the Solid wheels, new tires and a new body for it.

I can't use a gas car around here, Theres not enough space in NJ. Plus I have people in my neighborhood who complain about my dog barking at 8:00 pm, they would call the cops if I got a nitro rc.

mine's pretty quiet although it might be louder than my quad even though its probably the quietest quad you will ever hear (its a little 80 with no balls but it can do dough nuts all day) you can hardly hear my quad from 50 feet away

There is a shop in my town that has a huge track behind it. I used to race trucks, buggies, and street cars. Got ALOT of trophies from it cuz I was actually good at it. I even got a free $300 street car cuz my dad hooked up the sound system there. :wink:

As for the trucks, I started with a Traxxas Rustler...then moved on to these FAST ass buggy cars cuz I got sponsored...Then raced that street car...then sold it cuz I was sick of wasting every single friday night racing...

I have some G.I. Joe RC car from Radioshack or Wal-Mart. Then me and my friend put one of his good engines in it. It's awesome.

bump!

Are Tamiya America, Inc rc's built well because they seem a lot cheaper than other brands and I could always get a kit and use traxxas electronics in it if I'm correct?

What do you mean Electronically?

Usually, Electronics in an RC car has to do with either:

Steering/components

Radio control Pieces (Crystals, etc.)

or the motor

The Radio Control components isn't good to mix, if you have lets say a motor, usually they'd say if it's compatible with certain setups. If you did get an Electric car, Motors can be swapped, make sure they are compatible with all the brackets and holes. If theres a shop near you, you can always ask them. Usually, Ofna, or trinity will have some great Electric motors that are compatible with a lot of different cars.

lets just say I got an RTR and I wanted to replace the speed control, could I use any company speed control or do I have to stay with the same company.

I know to make sure the motor is compatible with the speed control and I know to get both a transmitter and receiver from the same company.

read my first post.

team associated RC10T4 SE RTR

my friend wants a car but he doesn't want to spend over $150 on it.

I'm asking these questions because if he gets a kit then I was going to give him my speed control and get him a servo for it.
