Windows DreamScene
Windows DreamScene
I got DreamScene for Ultimate, about a week ago.
I must say, it's really nice... though I'm struggling to find seamless looping, HD videos to use as my wallpaper.
Anyone else has it, and comments? Or know anywhere to get good HD video files?

Not really sure I would want a animated desktop, would be rather pointless.

Agreed. It's one of those things that's a fun thing to show off to your friends if you've got a nice computer...but as for usability...no.DWells55 wrote:Also, I wouldn't want to tax my video card with HD video playback that often.

However, Flip3D and Expose are VERY good productivity enhancements...it took me a while to get used to Win XP without hitting F10 every five seconds.

I honestly wouldn't want to have a proper HD movie or trailer as my BG...But it would be very nice to have a simple thing like a flowing river, or of the waves coming in from the beach, and only on a small loop so it doesnt take up much RAM...
But I don't have Vista ultimate, so that rules me out of doing that anyway

In one of the tech demos of DreamScene they had a waterfall which was actually very cool as a background.ScottyGEE wrote:I honestly wouldn't want to have a proper HD movie or trailer as my BG...But it would be very nice to have a simple thing like a flowing river, or of the waves coming in from the beach, and only on a small loop so it doesnt take up much RAM...

Therefore, I haven't used expose as much. God damn I don't know why I don't use it more. *changes key to something usable*

Concept is cool, but I think its just one of those things that just needs more time to let the power of computers catch up with it. Yea its cool to have a river as your background, but it isn't practical at all. It would be cool through to have a gallery online where your background changes every say 2 minutes downloading a band new background each time, that would be cool.
My real name is a Mammoth, if someone who cares sees this, please change my name to a Mammoth

That's kinda what Mac OS X does. You can use a folder, and have it rotate image any time increment (I actually can't remember the time increments you can choose, but they're pretty wide ranging).a mammoth wrote:It would be cool through to have a gallery online where your background changes every say 2 minutes downloading a band new background each time, that would be cool.
Also, if you feel up to programming, then you could write a script that would go and download images from that gallery into your folder in OS X by using Automator. That would be awesome.

Why does anything with 'Windows' in the title have to have someone mention OS X... please, let's not.
I want the Blissful Sunset Dream from StarDock... but it's premium. =/
It's really nice sunset with over 10million blades of grass swayingback and forth gently... it's nice. Currently I have an underwater view of the ocean surface, small video and the loop is very seamless. It's nice. =)
