Need help buying a computer

I only have 512 megabytes of memory, but I run perfectly fine (and don't forget that I use programs like Photoshop, Bryce, and Cinema 4D).

yah but what brand of computer is the best for games? I heard that compaq is a bad brand but i found a compaq with 1gb of RAM and a 3GHz processer for like $600. Is this good?

I can't see a brand being good for games. The only difference between different brands is their customer service and their skill in assembling the computer. Any computer will be good for games with the right parts

Ugh I hate Compaq. Just make it from scratch. go to tigerdirect(or any other Electronics site/store), find some good stuff for a small price and get it.

I would personally recommend Newegg.com for any and all computer component purchases. They've got the best prices (unlike TigerDirect's 15 million mail-in-rebates per purchase) and really fast shipping.

Yes get dual-core(Athlon X2) and at least 1GB of RAM.Graphic card is not as important as the first two things.

I don't know about an Athlon X2 for a low-budget machine. It's a great processor but it starts at $300

Yea but their shipping bites the big one. My friend ordered a video card from them and it was DOA, then he resent for another one, and that one was DOA too, then on the 3rd time he got a working one.

I personally dont buy PC parts online. I'd Rather go to the place and get it. I got to Frys For all my parts, and CompUSA for MOST of my software.

Yeah, they aren't worth the cost... a custom made computer can get the same power for cheaper.

HPs are awesome, the only one I know that sucks is my friends. It mentally retarded and I'm not kidding, it randomly deletes information and won't recognize any connected devices.
