Counter Strike Map making

Post by Horny Horny Hippo »

First off this isnt a project recrutment, that is only part of what im asking. But this post is mainly just asking for sombody to help set me off on the right path to creating these maps. If i must il take any recruitment out of the post just so itll stay in this part of the forum.

Any help anyone?

original:

Alright im putting together a maping team. The name is still up for debate, but i would really like to start creating my own maps, and mapping out maps from other games. I know nothing about creating source maps, but im REALLY willing to learn. My first project is to recreate lockout for source.

IF anyone would like to join, or can help me get started by giving me the programs neccisary (spelling?) to make these maps, i would appreciate it.

You can usualy find me on my surf server here: 69.1.227.34:27015

go check out fpsbanana for that kind of stuff. They got everything you'll need for mapmaking, skinning, etc.

Would this be Counter Strike 1.6, or Counter Strike Source? For Source mapping one of my favorite sites is http://www.interlopers.net and http://www.aKilling.org. If it is Source mapping, I might be interested in joining your mapping team.

For Source mapping, Hammer is in the Source SDK which comes with any Source game.

Otherwise, you can get Hammer 3.4 here.

There's tons of tutorials at the two links I posted earlier. Half-Life 2 modding is way easier than Halo. Just much harder to make bigger mods that have custom weapons. But just for making one map, it's really simple.

Theres tons of custom maps, but they arent that popular. Some cool ones are mbs_mcDonalds, and mds_bestbuy.

you know what, the most popular are maps that made modifications to the original maps, like the snowless cs_Office, office_extended and Assault_2005.
