wtf echoes

i got a new sound card for $45 but when i turn on hardware accel and environmental sound the AR is VERY VERY LOUD and everywhere i go i hear echoes,even if im not in a cave. is halo pc supposed to have alot of echoes or something or did i just get ripped off with the soundcard?

I have a Creative sound blaster 5.1 Live! cad and it doesnt echo on me.
whats teh sound cards name?

exact same as urs except mines a 7.1

p.s. i fixed the problem,the problem before was i kept hearing echoes even when there were no objects for the sound to bounce off.
