If you're going to be looking at that price range, I would go ahead and get an HP HDX.
Make sure you only get x32 Vista with 3 gb RAM.

HDX is the closest I have found to a desktop, go for it.
Also, I have one and it is phenomenal.

OK I will look into the HDX however anyone have any specific details such as graphics chip details etc that will affect my modding experience? Thanks.

The HDX has only one GFX card available, the 9600m GTX.
You will not have any problems if you buy this laptop, I can play crysis on max without a hitch.
Though you do not need a powerful computer to mod this game.

The problem with x64 is driver support.
Go to the real HP site and customize the HDX:
http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopp ... 16t_series
I just customized one and it came to $1,350:
Components

3 gigs of ram is a big no-no if it isn't achieved through 2 sticks...It's best to be running 2 or 4GB, even if a few hundred megs are unusable on a 32-bit system if you go the 4 gig route, at least you'll still have DDR speeds

Yea I was gonna go 2 or 4 anyway but thanks for the heads up good to know
BTW I love circuit city's signs "EVERYTHING 25-50% OFF" all the way until u reach the computer section, then it says "10%"... what a load of crap

Maybe it's 25% off, plus 10%.
If not, false advertising, sue, win.

hahaha i know right.. there was a little computer paper made sign right in the middle of the isle of computers saying "CLEARANCE 25-50% OFF" and on the bottom in smaller print it said (Except Ipods Computers blah blah blah). Point being.. if you don't have a 25-50% discount on everything, you shouldn't be able to make a sign saying "EVERYTHING 25-50% OFF"
