I am making a mod, i want to make the sky diffrent, and make it weather as time goes on.

idk if you can do this, but can u make a mod go from night to day? like a shader that changes over a time lapse

Thanks,

Well day sky to night sky wont be possible, or at least wont sys link.
You could have a night sky, and have several lights come on by switch,
lighting differerent areas of map.

Weather: Weather can be scripted to start and stop, and change in intensity as time goes on at random intervals. It may even be possible to have multiple weather systems running at once, although I have not seen this first-hand.

Sky: You might be able to achieve a day to night transition using an animated shader and a special bitmap tag but I cannot say how well that would look (those shaders tend to degrade image quality). There is also the problem of having to darken the lightmap as time goes on, which may be possible via scripting but I do not know for sure, nor would it, I believe, be SLC.

Wow.

SLC = System-Link Compatible. As in, it works online without any wierd glitches.

I would assume day to night would be possible. It was in Halo 1 so I can only assume Halo2 is capable of it. Now the direction you need to take to achieve this may be another task to overcome.

if you want to start out dark, then switch on a light, look here.

If you can change the colour of the sky and keep the lightmaps the same, it's a good enough illusion to give the appearance that it's going dark. Or, you can do what is done in Halo 3 (actually, it's in all Halo games, it's just more prominent in Halo 3), and have multiple skies, like on the level 'The Covenant'.

Thinking about this a bit more, it may be possible to have two coagulation BSPs, skies, and Lightmaps, one being day, the other night, and have a scripted switch between the two, like a trigger zone, or control (switch). Unfortunately the whole premise, while neat, would be a bit artificial because the switching would have to be player (and maybe even host) initiated, making it feel a whole lot less natural. And theres always the fact that its not a fluid game-play mechanic ;p

It could be scripted to start after certain amount of time.

I was under the impression timed scripts like that did not sync to clients. Or am I thinking of volumes?

idk

To my knowledge, Scripts wont sync over System Link, maybe they're talking about a Local Match, but oh well, You can give to it a try.
