hello world

hi im new to modding and want to get stuck in straight away, im sure youve all known this feeling =D

but i do not know where to start, ive done some stupid little mods on dothalo like smg firing wraith and such, but this is nothing compared to the maps you guys make.


so i was wondering, where should i start? a list of programs would be cool =D
and in general whats easiest to start off with to work my way up?

sounds good, are there any good FREE ways online to learn C++, tell me how to debug my xbox and your on =D

If you want do get your Xbox to use a debug IP, be careful and make backups of your drives. You can mess up your Xbox in the process. I have to reinstall my debug because my Xbox loads to a black screen of death everytime I turn it on so I can only do it once and then reinstall it. It is really annoying... But real time edits are a lot of fun.

ok im a retarded so ill avoid this method, what sort of mods can i make using the pro tools pack(i downloaded) , dothalo and entity? i havent actually used anything but dothalo and serenity atm but im not sure what i need to do to make a good mod. Can someone make an idea for me? :P ill give credit, im a bit tired so im lacking creativity. If anyone is willing to join me to make a mod/tech me along the way that would be pure awesome in a little glass box =]

Use DotHalo since you are a beginner. Follow some tutorials until you feel comfortable enough to start doing things on our own. One you know enough, stop using DotHalo and move on to Entity. It is 10x better than DotHalo.

@fezulon: Don't let yourself become overwhelmed with Entity.
It's very quite simple, just takes getting used to.
Start small then get better.
1. Projectile swaps
2. [matg] edits
3. effect editing
and then,
4. Creating pro maps that are 2 gigabytes and still work :D

well as i have expeirience moddeling maps for pc games using 3DSmax and Maya i was gonna start with a containment mod, except i make a whole littlle 1v1 level for it in a bo in the middle with wallks so you cant see the actual containment. If anyone is willing to take me under their wing and poin me in the right direction that would be cool.

as for proj swaps i have done loads of these, i love the shotgun that fires 10 rockets but it is kinda pointless and only fun in small enclosed spaces xD

sorry for double post but im getting annoyed, i know the answer is gonna be really simple and ive probably read it a hundred times in different tutorials, but.....

How do i actually view the map and move things in 3D? whenever i use ANYTHING from the pro map tools i cant find anything in any of the applications that lets me do this. Sorry im a newb atm but ill learn fast =D ill make you guys proud :D

EDIT: lol i found it now one of the first tutorials xD

so i was wondering if anyone wants to make a mod with me? it can be complex, as this is how i learn faster. I could sit around and help every now and again as i pick it up :D

EDIT: can someone be nice enough to put alot of bridges in the middle of containment (20 ish) as i cant seem to make this work, so that i can move them into place myself? and nbefore flaming im not making a racetrack xD.
