Do You Still Mod?

Ok, notice halo2X modding is somewhat dieing, witch kinda sucks for us who are so good at it, and all the stuff we are just now unlocking, its all going to be useless if there's no one to use it.
And all the newbies are not going to learn much with out us(more experienced) modders to show them the way.
I may just quit modding, and i am working on a nice mod right now
(new weapons, projectiles,Destructible objects, almost everything will be Destructible, even some parts of the map), but i may just stop it and trash the idea, witch i would hate to do, because of how creative my ideas are.
I also think a group of people need to get together and make a good video about modding like "
Why We Mod By ExileLord" to show people what we can do now and how fun it can be, and we also should have links at the End to bring them to the good modding websites, and not just
HaloMods, there a good site, but not the best for everything, i would not recommended people there for help from other people, or if they do and can't find what they are looking for go to Remnant Mods, and because of how much flaming and other newbies at halomods thinking they know everything and end up giving out wrong or false information(not trying to say everyone there is, there's still a lot of smart people there) but for good and reliable sources, i would recommended
Remnant Mods because of how many more experienced and active modders are there(and a less flaming goes on there),but I
would recommended
HaloMods for tutorials because of the large amount there though(Not Trying to say that Remnant doesn't have tutorials, they do to, just there for the more experienced and are a less amount at this current time).
If you do wish to continue modding halo2X, Please make your self known, and say why You Mod.
Or If you have stopped modding or planning to stop soon, tell us why so.

I will post this at Remnant Mods and Halo Mods

What we need is some new tools to mod. One that can handle all functions of the map file.

I second that grim! All these unused private apps need to be released, buggy or not. I do alot of mostly private mods just for laughs or to try new things but I would definatly be glad to be part of the H2X ressurection!
Ill help with whatever you have planned. Hit me up here or on msn messenger.

The Downloads section has been quiet roughly since H3 came out, and very quiet in the last few months. I think a few things are behind the steep decline.
Tools are critical. Among the things that have been dangled here and there but not released:
- custom jmad editor/injector/extractor
- real time (expletive) Halo for everyone
- proper model injector
Things that would be very useful, could be figured out, would probably bring some people back, but not likely to be developed/released:
- custom phmo
- custom BSP
- chunk cloner that does not break maps or SLC
- juicy details in the xbe that are probably documented in others' hard work already, which could be explored by new people
- AI that is less dumb
Neodos has made some excellent discoveries in recent months that have inspired me, but he is the last scientist here. There are not enough people now to shower programmers with praise for making the above things, so they won't be made/released.
The hall-of-famers probably did just about everything they wanted to, and then lost motivation because they could only do variations on what they'd already done.
The game is a few years old now. That's ancient by modern video game standards. H2 may be a classic, but kids have notoriously short attention spans. There are newer, shinier games available on more powerful platforms now. Have fun not modding them for another year or two!
People don't seem to have much imagination... Putting a skin and some fog and effects on what is otherwise the same old game does not give people much incentive to play. Porting weapons and models from other games can be fun but is also limited and played out. Not to discount the art of skinning or the importance of atmosphere, but I've always said that replay value comes from gameplay, and people just don't seem to have the creativity to shake it up and make the game new again. It hardly matters that we can do a lot of cool things we couldn't do before.
It's hard to find people to play. It is quite seldom that I play a mod with more than one other person. That's why I keep my mods small. The community has lost critical mass, meaning it will continue to decay until it is almost completely dead. But apparently people still mod Halo 1...
It takes a ridiculously long time to do just about any kind of mod.
Ridiculously long. It is not a very productive way to spend one's free time. That's why I'm cleaning out my closet right now, at which point I will become a spectator, and only play the mods I have.
If you know some cool things known only to a few others, post them. Make a few quick tutorials before you disappear entirely, the way everyone does. Release your buggy apps, as Twinreaper said. I came along well after the heyday and have been able to do some fun things with the knowledge and help of others.

AI is hard because what H2Core doesn't brick entity does. I talked to JacksonCougar about a chunk clonner. I told him I'd try to get around to making one sometime monday. As for the Xbe info, if you want to know something, I can find it for you.

I think that some people have applications that they just keep to themselves. If they are released, it could greatly help Halo 2. There are some great applications out there... Since Halo 3 map modding isn't going to happen for a while, maybe the people who are good at programming, such as shade45, -DeTox-, and Anthony could come back to Halo 2 and develop some more programs with their knowledge.
Snowstorm is most likely going to be my last for for Halo 2. It's taking a lot longer to get done than I thought because the applications out aren't capable of doing the things I need properly. If there were some better applications out to allow more things to be done, I would probably change my mind.

Sorry Dark.
Just an idea. I'll probably start learning C# and develop some things soon.

Good post CP, i agree with most of what you said.
But a few people are working on custom phmos, colls, sbsps, jmads.
but i still think we should make a new "Why We Mod", not saying the old one is bad, just kinda out of date.
And I guess i should still work on my mod, and if it does good, i'll maybe make a other.
And its going to be a machine map, so no old Mutiplayer maps.
All keep you guys updated on it.

I still mod. It's the restrictions that make me want to quit though. =x
I wish that we could get the community together to work on something big, that would benefit the entire H2X community, say, custom geometry.

Why don't all the users that still mod band together and make one big ol' fucker of a mod?

Its VERY hard to get a lot of people to join up and work on one thing, Tools or Mods.
Not saying its not possible, just hard

I make a lot of mods.. My only issue is at some point I get side-tracked, or I decide that the mod I'm working on sucks, and I need to improve. I then work on a better one, but then I just stop working on it at one point.
I don't know why.. It's just hard for me to keep up a project sometimes.

I'd mod halo2 if there were tools out like for halo custom edition.
Anyways, when I'm done with my summer job in july, I'm going to get more into h2's map structure. Hopefully I'll be able to help unlock some of H2V's features.

What I want is to be able to build your own maps
I have a real time halo editor, only released to a few, I got it off someone on the forums, I dunno why anyone would be bothered about it's release though.
And you've all heard of Cheif Jaboos Modding Pack right? There is a fair few secret apps in there.

Is anyone willing to help me with a mod? I need to edit the collision boundaries if possible... and I need to change where the MC's hands are placed when in a vehicle (Like the Bulldog) If you're intrested add my AIM or MSN. If you are intrested i'll tell you what I intend on doing.
edit:

Heh, me too, I still mod a lot, I started on a proper mod, but I never got finished because I had this idea so I started that instead. I've now begun another which is a basic concept but I still need help with.
Have MSN or something JK?
Seeing as I am 15 (16 tomorrow

) and it's the holidays I have a lot of free time on my hands. I'll try and get something done and release it, I've been around Halo mods for absolutely ages, just not on this account, I completely forgot all details about my last one. I'm working on a mod which is going to replicate Goldeneye on the N64, So it won't be like the other mods, and all fancy looking, I'll model a few guns, make everything dual weildable, and skin shared.map so it looks like the map bunker or something.

I can see atleast two programs you shouldn't have in that folder.
1. The two month generator.
2. XapienC2. That was a leaked program nobody was supposed to have.
