New mod project

Well as the topic states I need some suggestions for my first public mod release here. Here's what I've got so far:
Mod is for containment
Most all weaps skinned -
Map is almost totally skinned/shad swapped -
Some effect changes and contrail edits -
Some proj. swaps and color changes -
Having difficulty adding the phantom -
Trying to remodel the ghost, not having much luck there either as I can't model worth the shhhhh -
Still need to change the lighting and put a different sky(maybe) idk yet -
Still need to add some mach's to the map, I'm thinking of adding some kind of platform from gate switch to gate switch not sure what it will look like once it's done but we'll see -
Removed the bridge gate to see what it looks like, now I'm going to go back and add the Zanzi. already added it just need to reposition it , where the containment bridge use to be, it sits up to high right now-
I just need some other ideas that I can do.
If any one cares to help with the phantom problem or the modeling of the ghost, please do I will credit you once the map is complete. If you do want to help hit me up on YIM (jpsneede) or just post you ideas here. Thanks: JP

Wow... not much to say here. Don't do shader swaps unless they look good. This... umm i'm sorry but it looks horrible. The best way to improve your skinning skills, is to actually skin.

I didnt ask wheather the map looks good or not so far. I asked for ideas and still your post is worthless to me because I did'nt ask about skinning either. But your opinion is your opinion. I need some ideas on what to add to the map not what to change. I use to skin all my maps over at Elitehalo and A4H, was just trying something different and I liked the result. Yeah it's been a while since I've actually messed with modding but I stay pretty up to date with whats going on in the modding world. Please if you could stay on subject and want to help instead of posting something like ewww that's looks horrible, please do so. It would be much appreciated.

Shader swapping isn't skinning first of all, And for the containment skin, it reminds me of the level from Halo 1, except the white rocks stand out and look stupid, you need to change those. Adding the phantom is simple, theres tutorials in the tutorial section for it, or simply go into entity, open a map with a phantom, check reclusive and parsed and save the phantom as a .info file. Then build it into your desired map. Change the seats, and change the seat radius for the driving seat.

Ascension looks pretty cool to me, however Containment just looks terrible.

What I posted was a suggestion, I guess it wasen't as easy to tell as I thought, but i'm sorry if I offended you.

Shader swapping is indeed used in skinning. It's very handy actually.

I'm digging the ascension some. I would skin the banshee on that map to be iced over. Make the needler shoot out icicles or something along those lines. The sentinal beam could be spawned and name it the Freeze Ray. That and edit it's tdtl to be blue and white. Skin the plasma to be a snowball.

wow, that ascension looks REAL nice. but the containment is not very good.

id like to see the end result of ascension soon :wink:

That Ascension looks amazing sans the background. Either the lockout mountains or the Halo needs to go. I would say to add that glassy skin to all the structural parts of the map, and then skin the ground to something light, perhaps the snow from Containment.

On second thought, that glass idea only looks good on paper. Keep the part that you have skinned now, and then just lighten the rest of the structure, and then add the snow to the ground.

I did this once for my Burial Mouunds skin, but then I realized that it doesn't make sense for a needler to shoot icicles (at least for my skin). It wasn't what I was going for, but it sure looked cool :D.

I will take your idea into mind when I go to changing some things. Thanks
I did this once for my Burial Mouunds skin, but then I realized that it doesn't make sense for a needler to shoot icicles (at least for my skin). It wasn't what I was going for, but it sure looked cool .
Did you use a shad or just skin the bitmap

I thought about putting it there but I'm not really recruiting anyone I don't think, just asking for ideas. Thanks to everyone that posted. I will use your ideas and credit you when it's complete.

I shader swap everything I skin. If you're going for a new look, there's no need using the exact, original shader unless that just so happens to be the best shader for what you're trying to do.
