My First Mod/Skinning

Ok, I'm extremely new at this, so don't laugh at me when I sound stupid. >.< I'm in the process of learning how to skin etc.. This will be my overall project or goal that I hope to achieve EVENTUALLY (don't expect it anytime soon :wink: ).

I like playing warthog wars on xbl, and since I got into modding, I figured why not beef it up a little with mods. My first thought was to just take off the turrets on the warthog and say have fun. Obviously I didn't know how to do that, so I came here looking for help. As I looked around these forums, of seemingly endless talent, at the various downloads and skins and weapons, it made me say, "screw the small stuff, I want to go all out and learn this junk!" I figured this would be the best place for help, and I thought up my ideas for this project of mine.

Onto the project:

I will be using Coagulation as a base map. Things I want to do with this map include:

1) Doing an ORIGINAL skin for the map, warthogs, and Mastershief as well.
2) I want to remove the turret from the Warthog, make it first person view (behind the steering wheel), make them faster (not to much), reduce the weight, and if possible, make the tires larger and have it sit higher off the ground.

Put neons under the warthog. Here. Then, Make 6 different kinds of hogs, one with each color of the rainbow for neons. Give each different kind of hog different stats. Make the mod at night time, so when the hogs go off the jumps, you can see the neons really well. Add a ton of jumps and stuff everywhere. Remove the invisible barriers so you can fly into and out of the map. That's all I got for now.

Sweet, I totally forgot the neons! I didn't know you could do different hogs and stats though. :p I was thinking of the jumps too.

Can you make the hogs have head lights aswell?

Yes. You just enable them in the vehi tag of the warthog.

Ah yes.

I guess I'll go mess around with the 'hogs then.

hmm i like the idea of the ramps but u ought to add the boosters too them its not to hard its just a grav lift turned sideways so when u hit the ramp u get a big boost :D neons are a good idea and making the map darker. in the tutorials section there's lots and lots of them on. how to add new stuff to a map how to skin ect ect. sounds like a good idea one other thing though u ought to take out the banshee and make a warty spawn there. another note on the neons maybe make all the hogs at red base have red neon and the blue base hogs have blue also if you want to go out on a limb i saw a nice model in the tags and resorces section for the mc that would make it alot cooler looking as for the turrents thats easy to take them out and put ones atop the bases maybe have rvb emblems on the flags at each base just to add the feel to a war 8) i like ur idea of doing this and gald ur getting into modding but the only thing i saw wrong with your post is the xbl we don't really like mods on xbl i mean i think technically this is okay seeing as how ur not going to cheat just make the game more fun but it won't be long before someone says something so im giving you a heads up aslo idk if you have heard of XBC or xboxconnect its like a free xbl if you and your friends from xbl get that then you can make and run mods and no one will report you like some don on xbl

I like your red and blue neons idea! As well as the ramp boosting. Good ideas.

Do you guys think I should do anything besides make the map darker? I was thinking snow, but that's not original at all and doesn't really fit the scene.

yes plz plz no more snow :x iv only seen 1 snow mod i liked and it was in the contest the sunsets a good idea i my self prefer swamp themes idk y so maybe if you added rain and just a little little bit of water so the low spots had water...........nvm then the banshee area would be flooded lol hmm i like rian the sunset is good maybe a sunset with darkening sky with a light mist and maybe lightning on the far off part iv seen it in sp its on the grave mind lvl i found it with yelo technically its not lightning just electricity on the part where u go through the foggy flood infested part but it will work as lightning if placed right

Lightning is also in the Terminal sky, it's not hard to find ;). Anyway, rain is also cool.

ya i was flying in the devcam and found it u can't see it when u play its just a blue glow in the middle of that room by the tentacles :D hmm im trying to think of what else would go maybe just some new scenery like trees hanging of the cliffs other than that if u put what me and fox said this would be a darn sweet mod

Hmm, I like both those ideas.

How about a rainy sunset? Sorta like spring showers. I don't mind flooding the base. Then you can rise up out of the water in your pimped out neon warthog. :p

The rain wouldn't be heavy, maybe a drizzle or sorts. I like these ideas.

just take the misty rain off delat appraoch map if you have a good skinned sky you can have west side of the map a nice setting sun that fades into dark storm clouds way off with lightning and it just barely starting to rain kinda like calm before the storm except chad didn't add rain lol

It has been five days since the last post. :wink:

Bump

I plan on starting this today. Since I'm starting from nothing, I'll first get the old maps, then use the tutorials that I've found/the ones users have given me to start my map.

[edit] I'm not sure what time the forums go by, but my last post was August 6th, and where I live it's August 11th, so that's five. :p

[edit2] Unfortunatly, I'm still having the problem getting my mods to work. I change stuff in dothalo, save changes, fix encryption, resign, then tranfer, but when I load the map, nothing is different.
