Adding Mods to main menu
Adding Mods to main menu
Im new to Halo 2 xbox modding and im not sure how to add the mods to the main menu. I was trying to get the night ops multiplayer level to work but, it doesnt show up on the main menu. I got the serenity file and applyed it to containment and it made a night_ops.map file. I placed it in the Halo 2 maps directory and it wont show up. any help?

when you add the patch to containment if you don't want a new map in the main menue then you ftp it back as containment if you want it to be a new map you go open your maine menue and then go to i think its the globals tag and when the box comes up it will have all the mp maps from there you find the drog down tag that has the list of numbers and go down to like 21 or a high number there you can add your map to main menue
okay here's a tut but i will add what is the easiest way of adding a new map to main menue as in no hex stuff thats retarded but you won't have a preveiw pic of the map just a white blank for that you need to read this tut its kinda hard to do im not even good at it
On your computer
1. Make a copy of the map you want to add to the main menu. For this tutorial, we'll use Zanzibar.
2. Apply a .ppf, or mod Zanzibar, and sign the map.
3. Rename Zanzibar.map to what ever you want but you have to make sure that in dot halo you use the same map so if you make Zanzibar to lets say Myfreakingawesomemap then when you go to the globals tag in the next steps you make sure to name it the same.
9. Now open your Main Menu.map in DotHalo.
10. Go to the Globals tag [matg].
11. You should now see a new window pop up along with some blank lines. Near the top of this window, you should see a drop down arrow. Click it. Now click any of the numbers, and you should see what you normally see in-game *such as Map Name, Description, etc.*.
12. Go to the first number in the drop down section that is not used, or any that is not used. *the Value section should be -1*
13. Put a number that is a multiple of 10 *130,140,150,etc* in the Value section. DO NOT USE 10-120, THEY ARE ALREADY USED. Also put this number in the "Next Value?" section.
14. Now, in the Scenario Name section, put the Scenario\multi\ whatever you had before, for the sake of this tutorial, as long as you followed the steps, it should be:
Code:
Scenarios\Multi\Myfreakingawesomemap\Myfreakingawesomemap (this is what im talking about when you put your map back into your halo 2 to ftp back to your box it has the be the same name as in the main menue or it will not work.
15. In the Name, Name [English], Name [German], Name [French] section, put whatever you want your map's name to show up as in game in these sections.
16. Now under the Description, Description [English], Description [German], and Description [French], put whatever you want the text under the map to show up as in game. These past few steps should make you end up with this....
17. Sign the Main Menu.map
18. FTP the Main Menu.map back to your XBox's HDD, and the Myfreakingawesomemap.map too. Make sure they are both under the Maps section of wherever you burned Halo 2.
19. Fire up the Xbox and have fun!

hey im just wondering, if i just want to be able to play mp, and i dont care about campaign, do i still have to put the campaign maps and the stuff in the "bink" folder on the hd, or can i just leave them out
like, can i just put in the mp maps, the fonts, media, and the 4 .xbe files in there and still have it work?

i think i know y
when i fxp it over it my comp, it only gets 15.22 mb of the whole 56.91 mb
is there any way i can fix it so it keeps downloading the rest of the file??
