Is there a way to fix machines so they don't get the green glow, nor have the effect of turning everything standing on it into a black 'thing'...?
Simple question, hoping for a positive answer..

you just change the shaders, simple as that! duuh, just be sure that the shaders are something in the map, not from another map

No. Changing shaders wouldn't work. Its a reflexive in the Mode tag that turns it green, but it cannot be removed without messing up the mach.
But you could do what Headshot did by changing those values to 0 to make the mach not green, however when you step on it, you will be tinted black.
If this is a full mach mod(No bsp) I would consider using the gldf, but if not, I wouldn't use gldf, because it will work on and off land, and on land you would be too light. So only use gldf for Mach Mods. Or atleast I would.
