I'm a Noob.......help

Post by squirrelxb »

Alright, I just modded my Xbox earlier today. I completely installed an Xecuter 2.6 CE modchip and installed a BIOS as well. I also have an FTP client ready for use.

Now I've seen alot of tutorials for this, but they all start off in different ways and at different places that a beginner (like me) would not understand.

Basically, I need a complete guide to getting the Killtrocity Map Pack onto my Xbox. I need to know what software I need and the process because I finished installing the chip three hours ago and have spent up until now trying to find out how to do this.

Much appreciated.

first,

you said you have the client, but have you accualy FTP'd to your xbox?

if you have, download killtrocity and follow the intrusctions that come with it. It will tell you how to patch all the maps and such. But before you do that you need to get the maps....

Getting the maps

FTP to your xbox while Halo 2 is in your xbox
you should see a "D" drive.
double click that.
you will notice that all the files of the halo 2 disk are in there.
FTP all of those files to a safe location on your computer.

Now you have all the maps, except the New 11 maps, which are located on your xbox in the /E/TDATA/4d530064/$C/ so FTP all those maps in those folders to your xbox, now you have every map on your pc :D

then follow the tutorial on patching the maps that is included with killtrocity.

once you have every file that is needed, FTP all of them to /E/Games. then load it up!

I haven't FTP'd to the xbox yet, but I'll try that, thanks.

One more thing...don't I need a modded xbox dashboard to ftp to the Xbox?

That would be great...

Do you know of a place where I can download a good dashboard?

Edit: By the way, I already downloaded Killtrocity v1 before installing the modchip, so I have yet to FTP to my Xbox. I did flash the BIOS to the box.

first you need to get your xbox's IP address, without it it cannot make a connection. I don't hardmod so i have no clue how you would get a dash onto your xbox, but im thinking you can burn a runnable DVD and pop it in and install it. someone please correct me if im wrong

Yeah, I got the IP address when I turned on the Xbox before installing the BIOS, but when I installed it I now get the regular xbox dashboard screen without any information.
I also thought you would have to burn a DVD, and once I find a good dashboard I will load it and try it. I'm thinking about using Xbox Media Center because it seems to be good by the reviews I've seen.

One last thing...in your previous post you said that you have to FTP to your xbox to get the Halo 2 files for the PC. Do I actually have to FTP something to the box, or do I just have to make a connection? If I do have to FTP, what could I send to do this? I can't FTP killtrocity because I need the H2 files for the maps.

Oh! Got it. Backing up Halo 2 files and stuff now.

Ok I'm not done uploading the files yet but in the instruction for the Old Maps section of Killtrocity it says that I need the autopatcher to do it. This is included in the Killtrocity folder, correct? Also, do I need any other software to do this?

I have the .map files for the new maps (Containment, Sanctuary, Turf, Relic, Terminal, Gemini, Elongation) but I cannot find the files for the original maps like (Lockout, Ascention, etc.). Are they files hidden somewhere? In the instructions for Killtrocity it says that I need to get the maps from the Halo 2 disk or from the HDD. When I tried it with the disk it didn't work, so how do I get them from the hard drive?

thanks

I found it, but do I really need to ftp ALL the files in the D folder? My computer is running out of space so I'm wondering if I can just FTP the maps instead of the whole thing.
