Spawning more stuff....

Post by crosseyes »

Ok, I've been trying this for a while with no luck. I want to spawn more warthogs and gates on containment (yes, making a racetrack. I just feel left out because I've never made one before). Now, There aren't enough spawns already on the level for what I want. How do I actually add more spawn points? I know Entity had something to do with it....chunk cloning?

Sorry, I would search, but I can't think of any phrase that would turn up the results I want. Not like computers can think ;)

Itmc Tag -> Duplicate Weapon
Itmc Tag -> Display - Idents
Itmc Tag -> Change Item (0) to tag of choice
Scnr Tag -> Display - Reflexitives
Netgame Equipment -> Clone Chunk
Netgame Equipment -> Set Amount Of Chunks and Clone
Add Meta To Map
Scnr Tag -> Display Idents
Change duplicated weapon Itmc tags to duplicated weapon (Item (0))
SBSP Tag -> BSP Viewer
Find duplicated weapon, move objects.
Save changes.
Just don't release it and you'll be fine. Everybody hates racetracks. :roll:

Okay, I'll go into detail the best I can... (first in depth-tutorial :wink:)
Open your map in Entity and open the itmc tag.
Choose a weapon, right click it, and Duplicate. (I usually use the rocket launcher or energy sword because it's usually single-spawn, which is easier to find)
Click your duplicated tag, and look to the right. You should see a bunch of info. Right click, and select Display -> Idents.
Swap Item (0) to tag of choice* (in this case, Warthog/Containment Gate)
Close the itmc tag and open the scnr tag.
Right click on the information and select Clone Chunk.
Expand the Netgame Equipment and choose the weapon you duplicated the itmc for. (R. Launcher or Energy sword, in my case)
On the right, change the number of chunks to clone to however many objects you want on the map.
Click Clone, then Add Meta To Map.
Scroll down to the itmc tags you cloned.
Swap them to the duplicated itmc** (it'll have a (1) at the end).
Close the scnr tag and open the sbsb tag.
Click the blue + sign in the top right of Entity and click View BSP.
Once it loads, click Edit on the left of the viewer and check the box next to Collection.
Find your newly spawned items, and move them around.
Save changes.

*Change the first box to the corresponding tag, then the second box to what you wish to spawn.
**You can highlight the tags, then right click and swap.
And since I'm sure you'll need them, the controls for the BSP Viewer are:
-Controls for SBSP Viewer-
W=Foward
S=Back
A=Left
D=Right
X=Up
Z=Down
Hold Right mouse button to view around

-Item Buttons

Left Click=Select/Unselects Item
Up Arrow=Item Moves Forward
Down Arrow=Item Moves Backwards
Left Arrow=Item Moves Left
Right Arrow=Item Moves Right
PG UP=Item Rises
PG Down=Item Lowers
Left Click(hold) + shift + move mouse=Tilts Item North/South
Left Click(hold) + ctrl + move mouse=Tilts Item Rotates Object
Left Click(hold) + alt + move mouse=Tilts Item East/West

Increase camera speed + (plus sign)
Decrease camera speed - (minus sign)

Thank you thank you very much. It makes much more sense now, thanks for the help.

ehh...one problem. I can't find the Item (0)

I'm using Entity Beta, would the version be a problem?

It might not be labeled at Item 0. Just choose the only ident in the tag.

The only ident? There's like....lots of them?

It looks like there's one for each dependencies, each that isn't unused or unknown points to some kind of tag that makes up the R/L.

In the itmc tag? You duplicate an itmc, click it, then display the idents. There should only be one...
