I need help with injecting image files into the map

Pretty much just like the title says. I extract DDS files and then I inject the DDS file back into the map. Afterwards, it gets very staticy.

Can someone please help me? After seeing these reskins, I wanted to try myself.

You must inject in the same format you extracted.

Example: If you extracted a bitmap in DXT1 you must inject in DXT1.

Thats the thing, I extracted it as a DDS, and injected it as a DDS.

Edit: Could using DotHalo be the problem?

No, it's the format... DXT 1 is a sub-format of DDS.

All Halo Bitmaps are .dds files, but they differ in the sense that some are DXT1 images, some are DXT2/3 or DXT4/5 and there are even other formats.

Assuming you're using Photoshop, just save them in the correct DXT format of which the image was before extraction. This should solve your problem.

*Worships iGeo* Thank you so much! Thanks for taking the time to help a skin noob out!!!

Edit: Just incase I wasn't clear, it worked. It was a DTX1 thing. *Thanks iGeo some more*

Didn't really think nothing of it. I used to be on a message board that was real strict about spelling and grammar, so typing in complete sentences and no abbreviations or "Thx 4 da dl", stuff like that annoys me.

As do I, but sometimes you have to set it anyway, or it screws up.

Actually, I have another problem. I messages iGeo about it, but no reply. Why aren't the bump maps working? One texture in particular doesn't show up unless I am standing directly in front of it. There isn't a bumpmap for it, just the texture itself.

I think I may reskin another level.

i think it is something to do with the skin not the bumpmap as i also have that problem when i can see 2 of something. try internalizing the bitmap.

I am having the same problem(the first one) i use DXTBmp and as far as i can tell they are the same. but i still get the same random colors. i don't know what i am doing wrong.

How do you internalize the texture? My textures show up when I am extremely close to it. I would take screenshots, but that would be work, lol!

Also, I was wondering, can you resize a texture smaller than its size? I know you cannot resize larger, so replaced the "Africa earth" in midship with a burning planet, but made it smaller. Before resizing, it looked fine. When I resized it, it looked like a bunch of lines in outer space.

To get an idea of my visual of the outside of midship, think of this, but on fire. http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/49638280/
