Okay, i was thinking about making a mod that was snowish. I was wondering if i could change the water to ice. Because i dont think there is ice, i was wondering if it was possible just to make the water glass. if anybody can answer this, i will love you forever

your thinking to hard. spawn some machines over it and null the shaders. that way you will be able to walk on the water without falling through. if you want to make it look like ice then you need to do some sort of shader swap and skinning will probably need to be done as well.

You could spawn an invisible machine where the water.

You might be able to mess with the machines [phmo] to have a sliding effect.
*I'm probable wrong about the [phmo]*

You can't just USE lockout's glass. It's apart of the bsp. The best way I can think of as of right now would be to use cap's explanation. Spawn machines overtop of the water and change it's shader to something that would look more like ice. Which could be maybe lockout's glass shader. Try it and let us know how it works.

to put machines over the water you have to open up entity and get a large flat machine from a campaign map such as the boss platform from delta_control.map and transfer it over to your map. After that go in to entity and open up the scnr tag. right click>indents. find an ITMC such as the rocket launcher and right click>clone chunks. Now depending on ho many you need clone that much (I'd say clone about 20-30). now before you close that box you have to press add meta to map and it will say done in a few seconds. After that you need to go back to the scnr tag, right click>indents again and find all of the cloned rocket launchers. right click and swap the rocket launchers. change ITMC to mach and the machine to the boss platform.

Do this to all of your cloned rocket launchers and then open up the BSP viewer. (go into the sbsp tag and click the little blue plus sign in the top right corner and press view bsp.

after the BSP has opened up make sure collections is showing. look in the spot where the rocket launcher normally spawns and you should see a bunch of the machines. select them and place them where the water is. try to make the machine spawn right over the water so it doesnt look like your floating over it. after you have all of the machines in place its time to null the shaders. to do this go to the machine tag and find all of the shaders and null them...simple.

hopefully this helps you a little bit

Okay, just so people don't think I'm stealing an idea, I've been working on ice for quite a bit myself. It's going to be on my next skin. It should look pretty sweet. I look forward to seeing what you do with this concept as well :).

actually a cool way to get an ice look is to "freeze" the water, no pun intended. When i get the chance to look at the shad tag ill be able to tell you how to stop the water's movement and it does make it look icey. I actually got the same idea after i stopped it but like i said i cant help you till i can get a look at the tag again.

dude swap the water stactic shader with the lockout glass shader after transfering it to the map then go to foot effects on the water (i think theres foot efects on water) then make the bullet impacts int to snow in pack or ice if there is and same with explotion impact. hope it helps
