Adding Maps to menu and screenshots

Ok I'm fairly new to all this, Hopefully I'm in the correct forum..
I am having 2 problems at the moment.

First, I've been adding maps some I've gotten to work others I have not..
I only know one way of doing this at the moment and it seems not to work with all of them..

I add the ppf's and make the patch then do all the saving and adding to mainmenu.map and resigning. But some maps after patch still have the same map name in the hex editor, I do not know how they choose their map files on loading.. If they have a unique name after the patch I have no problems but if they still say lets say ascension.map in the hex editor how to I get them to load the ascension_mod.map?

Also number two.. in the menu screen alot of modded maps just have a white blur for the screenshot, how do I add a screenshot to them?

Thanks whoever helps me out

Sounds like youre using the main menu that i have,... am i correct in guessing that your main menu looks kinda like this [at map selection]

(not all maps are listed i know, im not turning XB on to copy it)

Ascention
Coagulation
Headlong

and then the list keeps going into

Ascention_Modded
Beavercreek_Modded
Coagiulation_modded
Zanzibar_Modded

and so on?

in total theres about 50 maps in the list?

Well I'm doing everything manually, can't learn if you just use patches for everything.
I've got about 15-20 maps so far.. And I give most of them a description in the name so I know which is which on the list.. So i don't just have everything saying modded.. I think I've got the first problem figured out thou.. The name in the hex is the filename it's searching for so I just changed the name to the filename and it seems to work..
I still need to know how to add screenshots for each map on the menu thou.

Anyone know if there is Original maps out there? Kinda gets boring when you know the maps top to bottom.. I haven't gotten to try that killtrocity yet links never work.. Only got 1 part from the last post of links before the links died, are they just skinned maps too or are they originals.

Currently you cannot have more than fifty maps, if you want to seperate mods and non modded, you might want another copy of halo 2 on your hdd.

When i put Halo 2 on my Hardrive it took up almost all the space. If i buy another harddrive that is unlocked and plug it in my xbox will it work or is there something i have to do to it before it will work?

Oh, yea, I'm used to not having my stock hdd, I got like 6 games on my box with 70 gigs left, so thats not a problem for me. But since we can't talk about xbox modding here I will refer you to another site:http://www.how2xbox.com/site/XBOX/Advan ... fault.aspx thats the tutorial I used to upgrade mine and no, you cannot just stick a HD in there and expect it to work, because it won't.

To use modded maps and original maps you have to have something like dothalo, and hex editor, I'm having brain freeze right now but either you have to 1) rename the modded map something like ascensions_mod.map and edit the mainmenu.map and add another entry in mtags i think and make the scenario name to the map name or 2) open the map in a hex editor and change the internal name of the map scenario/multi/ascension.map > scenario/multi/ascension_mod.map.

Hopefully someone will read this before you do and reply to which ever one is right.

If you dont have the room you can also put as many maps as you want onto your hd and then just burn a iso with qwix or something and burn it onto dvd so you can just throw in a disc with the maps you wanna play.

Everytime I change the path in Hex Editor I get an error when I try to open it in DotHalo.

Try Tural's shell scenario program. Its in the files, under utilities, you just right-click then hit change scenario path. No hex, which is probably screwing you up.
