They are tunneling services. Basically, you connect to the internet, but the xbox thinks it's connected directly to another xbox through sys link.

XBC or Xlink is what you should use to play Mods with.

i have used Xlink a few times, but i found it extremly bad for my 256/64k connection, i would have pings over 3000MS
so i use Xbox Connect,
http://www.xbconnect.com
i get pings of 200ms when connecting to the UK now.
XB connect is what we at pothole studios use for filming the totally random series, and we support it all the way.

I originally used Xbox Connect (and still think it's the best) but I use Xlink now since it's integrated into xbmc.

You mean with XBMC?
You have to have one computer also running xLink but you only need it running the console version or whatever (where it only acts as a server and doesn't display the big window with all the groups and stuff). You also have to enter the IP of you xbox (machine IP) in the settings of xLink on the pc. Then configure it on you xbox, again you have to tell you xbox the IP of the host computer and then go into xlink Kai and join a server then hit like playgame.
That's just from memory so it might not all be right but it's the general idea. Also make sure you have the proper ports forwarded if need be.

xlink auctually has 2 different parts, theres the app itself, then theres the GUI, you can run the app itself without the GUI and you can use XBMC's KAI GUI.
i find that to be unrequired gimic shit, but other people might like it (if there xbox isnt in the same room as there pc)

Man I hated having to do that. Back before I had my laptop I had to use the xbmc gui. Man that was not fun because everytime I wanted to change arena's I would have to reboot my xbox.

yeah, i dispise that part of Kai also, thats why i have my 2 tv's on my desk next to my 2 pc monitors, with both of my xbox's sitting on my PC tower, everything is connected to everything else, and with this setup its easy to film stuff for Pothole Studios & act stuff, and just play online on XBC.
