Map darkened but machs and decals are still bright. Help?

Post by beware_of_gecko »

I used UberLightmapTool to darken the whole map which worked perfectly except the machs and decals are still lit like they are normally can anyone give me the solution to fix this?

Funny. I'm having the opposite problem. I want my mach to be brighter but there are pitch black except for a 2 foot circle around me. Mabye its machs that dont like different colors.

It's something strange about machs. It's also what causes them to appear green or it'll make you or your vehicle look green when you're on it. Anyway, it comes down to the mach and the lightmap not getting along. This is why you'll notice that most mach maps have kind of a bland lighting scheme--the modder nulled the lightmap to get rid of the coloring.
I intend to find a solution to this problem because I'm working on a map that I want to have dark and it'll have a lot of machs.
For now, head over to TRP and get the shad plugin--the guy who posted it says he found the value for the brightness of the shader. With it, you'll be able to turn down the brightness of each mach's shader. See if that helps.

If the brightness is already low and it still has this problem then i guess i will have to continue researching the shader tag and the effects of it on machs. Hopefully it might work though.

Yes, I hope it works. I'll be trying it soon (I had started to do a bit of shader research myself, but that kind of thing really isn't my specialty), but atm I'm working on other parts of my map. If someone tries it and it works, let us know.

Would that work for a mach spawned as an itmc?
