Vehi Height.

a retarded problem with vehi height,
ok, at the moment the X-17 Raptor looks like this.....

as you can see, its not touching the ground, i have nulled the bones on the suspension and wheels to remove them (for looks), but i dont like how it hovers, now i have adjusted the "Human Vehicile Height From Ground" box wich had interesting effects, if i droped the number lower than 15 (stock) it had no effect, but when i made it 0, it falls thru the map on spawn, i have also tried nulling the tyre markers to drop it with interesting effects, when i nulled the back ones, it sat lower in tha back, but when i nulled the front ones, the jeep did a retarded nose-stand, (it dosent sit flat unless somone is in it).... so any ideas on how to drop it on its guts? cos im all out.

I'm guessing it's the collision, or physics model.

i find its just a little retarded, cos its still sitting on "Wheels" you see them kick the dirt up when you hit the deck, but, when theres nobody in the raptor, with its engines off, its just floating, i find its a bit dumb, and also if the ground is just slightly angled, it slides along the ground, wich will make it a **** to film with, cos for every shot it will have to be sitting on perfectly flat ground.....
Doom may know the awnser to this...
Yo Doom2, when u made your "Dune buggy" when you moved the Markers, did the jeep lower to the ground, or did it stay the same height from ground?

i definatly think it made the hog sit alot lower, i definatly remember him saying that. So yeah, you could just move the markers up(wish i knew how

well u could just null the shaders for the dirt...

its not just the dirt, its the fact that the jeep Slides down even the slightest hill, i parked it on the top of the teleporter at Blue Base once, so only the Chassis was touching it, and it didnt even act like it was trying to slide, it grabbed it like no tomorow, so i need to get it on the ground, cos it will solve 2 problems (Dumb hover, and sliding down slight hills)

Yeah, the sliding is obnoxious. I've even had the thing just blow up when I left it sitting in the middle of coag for five to ten minutes for no reason. I think I lowered it's height to .9 or something and it looks like it's resting on the ground, but it still slides. If I could suss out the seats issue with slapping another vehicle over a banshee hlmt, I would start from scratch on the jeep and build it over a banshee just like I did with my tank and ghost. What I mean by that is that I can get the pilot seat working no prob, but not the boarding seats, which boggles my mind since the seat markers are on the model, so no idea why changing the boarding seat of my banshee-turned-tank into a tank's boarding seat doesn't put it in the right place. This is the last major hurdle I need to jump before I'm ready to put together a release-worthy map.
But, yeah, if it were built over a banshee, it wouldn't slide, and I could probably easily set it on the ground. I'm gonna' try again today to see if I can work out the seat issue and if I can get it perfect, I'll let you know.

but if its built over a chee, wont it have the same retarded thing the chee does, how it drops down in the back end? so when its sitting on ground its nose is slightly up?
For ppl who dunt know what im on about with the sliding theres a vid here...
http://www.potholestudios.xmgfree.com/Retarded.zip
its a .WMV file zipped.
in the vid it also shows how when the jeep is on its belly it dosent even think of sliding, thats why im thinking that by moving where it thinks the tires are Upwards so it auctually sits on its belly, it shouldent slide.

Yeah, I guess my tank does nose-up a bit, and the back treads (it's only treads) do actually sink into the ground a bit. That's pretty low on my to-do list too, since it doesn't affect gameplay and only makes minor cosmetic differences.
The shee duping thing wouldn't work for you anyway (I keep forgetting about that).

Ok, I tried the banshee thing. Once again, I'm sacrificing my boarding seat (sure wish someone new the solution to that) but otherwise it works perfectly. Sits on the ground. Doesn't slide. Passenger seat works. Turret works (there was no doubt of that, really, since the turret is its own vehicle). And the physics are better. No more inexplicably gaining ridiculous amounts of altitude from turbo. No more accidental barrel rolls because I pulled back diagonally on the stick. Now it can hold its own against my other vehicles (poor thing had been getting its butt handed to it by everything but the banshee).
If you can afford to sacrifice your banshee in your filming mods, Dazz, you should totally do it. I also like how when it boosts it has a blue glow in the cab now, and casts a blue light on the ground if you're close enough.

Ok... how do i make the Banchee the jeep as your saying? do i just swap the HLMT? and is is Sys linkable?
:::EDIT:::
you know what would be cool? when boosting, have the Blue Boost trails that usually come off the Banchee Pods, coming out of the Left and Right rear Engines

Yeah, just slap that warthog hlmt onto the banshee and then go into seats 0 and 1 and change everything that it'll let you change (the floats) to what they are in the warthog. Also, swap the banshee's weapon for your warthog horn... unless you just wanna' change the proj's and hlmt of it instead.
Boosting thing wouldn't be impossible. I think there are markers on the banshee's model that define where they come from. If you were to swap a couple of the hog's markers for those it should work.
[edit] Oh yeah, you'll also want to change seat number 1 from a boarding seat to a passenger seat. I did it in DotHalo.

is it still SLC? and can other people on SL see the jeep? or do they just see a chee?

Well about the floating, first off move the wheels markers in the mode tag to 0 that will be the lowest possible that the warthog will be I have found out. It will still float, but a little lower.
And about the sliding. Try setting the weight for the vehicle higher then it normaly is. See if that works.

i tried setting the weight higher once, it made it bounce around retardedly whenever it was on the ground, and it wanst a big change either, about 1 tonne thats it.
also, you say move markers to 0, it it possible to go into the -1 or -2 area? or will this cause it to go and assclown itself?

you would need t move them to o.o1 or something not -1 or -2.
But to my testing I havent found a difference
I could be wrong though

You won't need to do anything to the markers, though, if you use the banshee idea.
