Hello everyone. For some reason, when I play the Halo 2 that is on my hard drive, there are dark spots on the map. I do not see why. I have cleared my Xbox cache, and restarted it, but no luck. Someone please help me!
do you me the light map shadows or random black spots because if it the random black spots the disc you copied it off may have been dirty OR your xbox is just weirdly screwed
i got some wierd spots when i skinned coag and made some internalized bitmaps, then used sppf. the patched map was all wierd. im not sure if it happend after using adi to edit the lightmap or if it was from sppf. the map was fine till i used one that dos mes edited with adi then sent me a sppf.
Took me forever to figure out what you were talking about. You mean when parts of the map just turn dark when you look at them from far away or from certain distances, right? I've seen it in a lot of skin-heavy maps. Several of Greennc's earlier ones had it, but whatever the problem was he seems to have sorted it out, since his newer ones never seem to have the problem. Just throwing out some guesses: it could be because the textures are too detailed and the xbox can't handle them. It could be because of a sloppy bmp to dds conversion (maybe a bad plugin or something). Maybe it has something to do with lod's? I mean, there's a reason for having multiple lod's and it seems most skinning involves cutting it down to just one. Well, that's enough of my speculating. I would suggest asking one of the experienced skinners (one whose maps never seem to have the problem) for more information.
that was not my problem. the bitmaps had like black splaters kinda all over. it was like it cloose up or far away. something got messed up along the way. if your maps are skinned and thats the prob your have, try starting a fresh map, if not redo halo 2 on you hard drive and see what happens
