pitch black

i am trying to make a pitch black map...
i have the flash bang grenades kind of made, how do i rename objects, and how do i make the map pitch black?
also how do i change a weapon to a flashlight that provides lots of light, and melees as the attack?
one more thing

how do i make the plasma pistol into a "flare gun" that shoots flares that sit and last on ground for a while?

get the uber lightmap tool and just keep making it darker till its how you want it.

thanks! any ideas for the other things? i got the darkness workin, but the chief still shows up, how can i make him pitch black too, along w/ the weapons.

use a needler projectile and change the light values

well, you could change the model of the masterchief and elite to the single player MC model, and then edit the bitmaps until they are the color you want. if u dont know how to do that, search for skinning tutorials. also, change the explosion delay of the needler to make it stay longer. as for a weapon that makes lots of light, you could improvise. jack up the light effect of the sword, and boom: instant torch. I'd also suggest making the light effect of the rockets around 5-10; it looks cool.

just skin the mp mc skin.the mc isnt that hard. i skinned him in camo for my skin. if you want to see it click sherwood forest in my sig.
