Post by [users]HackMaster »

I can't figure out how to extract models from maps. My version of Darkmatter wont let me extract models. I get this:

Nope you need to use the older version ironically its called "Old DarkMatter" it can be found in the zip file that contains the newer "broken darkmatter" those are in the files forum under halo2 downloads.

Just a little side question about that: when I extracted MC's model with dark matter, then loaded it in milkshape, the texture was wrapped wrong. After editing it a bit and reinjecting it with dm it was all kinds of swirly and messed up looking. Does anyone know if it's darkmatter or milkshape that's to blame? Would using adi be better? I might get 3dsmax if milkshape's the prob, but if it's darkmatter, that would suck.

The texture should not be wrong. It should be correct becasue it works ingame. You might now hat been able to get close enough to the model to view it correctly.

No, it was all stretched. The dark area for the neck, was stretched onto the chest, and not symettrically, either. It went halfway onto the right pec, and down almost to the bottom of the chest. When I injected it back... well, that's harder to explain. There was a big hole in the texture down his back... just shaded, no texture. We finally decided the orange blob on the back of his head was supposed to be the visor. All the rest was all messed up... not even stretched any more, but all screwed up.

Hmm was this only on a custom wrapped texture or the one that is on him originally too?

The original one. All I did was mess with the model a bit. Minor things. Just to experiment. I've been meaning to try just reinjecting the unaltered model to see if it screws up. If not, that would suggest Milkshape is the culprit. At this point, however, it's just a curiosity thing/research for the future... maybe, since I've abandoned the original idea in favor of pursuing other venues.
