newb modder, setting up dashboard probs.

ok, I was setting up my dashboard for modding halo 2 and I went to splinter cell start game, check points, then it gives me a black screen with green writing with number 21 in the left upper corner....and the words aren't moving and I tried to wait it out but it stays there....my xbox works fine though. Any suggestions?
