Huge Poblem with skinning

OK I decided yesterday that I would take the dive into skinning. I used the method where you inject an edited dds file into shared.map.

Well it worked just fine except that the warthog looks black until you get really close. Then you can see the new warthog skin just fine.
I will try to post pics later.

Then since that didn't work great I tried to internalize the bitmap by extracting meta from shared.map and injecting into foundation.map but got the same results.

The program internalize bitmap didn't even work at all.

Any help would be great.

That happens sometimes. I think there's a program that can fix that. LOD remover i think it is. But I might only be for models.

LOD remover removes LODs for bitmaps, models, and makes a 'cameraman' weapon.

OK here's a picture of it from far away. As you can see it is black.

EDIT: With the LOD remover, will it just remove my HUD because I'v used that one before. This problem is like no natural luminance or something.

If you check the cameraman box then it will, but try jsut checking the bitmap box. Also, I think the problem is because MIP maps are not being produced. Or something.

How would MIP maps get left out? And if I do the LOD remover on the bitmaps what else will it effect?

i believe when you save the bitmap you save it with no alpha map and you are supposed to tick the make mipmaps tab. The lod remover forces halo2 to run at it's highest quality (for the bitmaps or the model Level Of Details)at all times which could lead to problems with the map freezing or the game freezing.

Just resave the bitmap and reinject how i stated above.

OK I fixed it. The problem was that after editing it I would save it as a bmp and then use the DX sdk to convert it to dds. The problem with that is that it does not make any MIP maps. I got an updated plugin and saved it and an NVIDIA dialog came up and gave me all of the options that I needed.

Thanks for all of the help.
