Christmas Level

For my 2nd Bi-annual Halo 1/2 LAN Party (phew!), I want to make a Christmas themed level because it's over Christmas break. The pine trees would have baubles, Master chief might have a santa hat on, and the guns would need to be re-textured. I have a few questions.
1. If I put this on my modded xbox, and I started this game, could other xbox's play my game without a mod chip?
2. Would this create too many on-screen polygons and crash the game? Does this matter on xbox?
3. I opened the map (Bloodgulch) in sparkedit, and exported it (as a .obj) to 3dsmax 7. There I added some pine trees. I exported the map as a wavefront obj.. How do I convert it back into a map, or am I taking the wrong approach entirely? Are there any easier ways to add pine trees, then how would I add baubles?
4. Would I use milkshape to create the santa hat? Or will that create too many vertices? Does that even matter on xbox version?

Sorry for all the questions, I'm very new to xbox halo modding. I have some PC modding experience though. Any help would be appreciated.

Best way to reskin is using photoshop, just extract the bitmap and edit it and inject it. For the halo 1 part check out the HEK tutorials on the front page.
