so i used to play a lot of modded maps before the whole cheating thing. now that everything is back up, i want to play some of the modded maps. but whenever i try to load them it goes back to the pregame lobby thing. it works whenever i replace a map. but it doesn't work when i try to add the map to the mainmenu.map. i have the 5 new maps if that has anything to do with it. i've signed both the mainmenu.map and the modded map (in this case lockout underground arena). is there something i'm missing?

You need to delete the autoupdate. The file is called default.xbe and it is in Halo 2's TDATA folder somewhere.

DO NOT delete that, just replaace it with the original default.xbe

I'm having the same problem - If you change the default.xbe, can you still play on live? And what is the "origional" default.xbe? I thought there never was one on there :?

what if I rename the default.xbe in $u folder or whatever it is and I put the normal halo 2 default.xbe in there and i play it for a while, how would i go back to playing on live? I know I'd have to put the default.xbe back to normal but would I have to clear the cache too? Sometimes i just feel like playing new maps that i have but i can't because of the stupid update but I don't want to get banned from matchmaking or something

I had the same problem, I just popped in my halo 2 disc and coppied the default.xbe and the downloader.xbe to the 4d530064/$u folder and the problem was fixed. The only problem with this is that you go back to all of the stock settings which means no weapons update. Also, unless you have 2 seperate hdd's you wont be able to play on xbl after doing this.

I have a question: Does anyone still have the previous Auto Update? If someone does have it could you send me the file? I would like to play my mods and have the 1.1 update...I just need to find that update.
