Skinning is pretty easy so heres a small tutorial on it.
NOTE: Make sure that mainmenu.map, shared.map, and sp shaered.map are in the same directory as the map your editing because the weapon and vehicle skins are external.
* Open ADI and the map.
* Go to bitm tag.
* Find the bitmap and click save texture.
* Take note of the type it is (DXT1, DXT 2/3. DTX 4/5)
* Open the DDS in a program that supports it, most people use Adobe Photoshop.
* Now feel free to edit it as you please, just don

ok ive so far done all up to where im supposed to 'save texture' and nothing happens, doing the other 1 just has it show up as like (something).meta, everything is always .meta i hate freaking .meta, those four cursed letters make evrything so difficult. mainly i just want the /military/covcapship/textures. if anyone can help plz PM me
ADI will not allow you to extract or inject a tecture, while another process (another program) has the map open also; I think that may be your problem.vaticinator wrote:ok ive so far done all up to where im supposed to 'save texture' and nothing happens, doing the other 1 just has it show up as like (something).meta, everything is always .meta i hate freaking .meta, those four cursed letters make evrything so difficult. mainly i just want the /military/covcapship/textures. if anyone can help plz PM me
I hate to doble post but for anyone still having a problem:
First, your going to open ADI. Go to the [bitm] Bitmap Texture Tags. Find the one you want (green). Next, click the button that's in purple (it's the raw data editor). Make note of what's in red, the format of the file, you'll need it later. Click save texture (orange). Now open up Photoshop (or any .dds editor). Edit it how you like. Save it. (note: you must haev the .dds plugin). This screen will appear:
Make sure whatever was in red, in the first picture, is checked off here. Now, go back to ADI. Click Inject Texture (blue). Close the Map. Sign it. FTP-it. Clear your cache drives (xyz). Enjoy.

Yes, you should put the .dds plugin in something along the lines of: "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop CS\Plug-Ins\File Formats"vaticinator wrote:ive got photoshop cs and im installing it now, because none of that DXT1 stuff was showing up just a blank box, do i need to have PS and the dds plugin inthe plugins DIR installed?
