edit 2: the reason you can change the values of wat u think are coords is that the value type is undefined if you can edit the plugin so that the value type is defined you will be able to change it

i am making progress with bones, i have drawn a diagram of the tanks bones and now fully understand how siblings work

edit 3: i have also been look at the coll and it seems to work in the same way but everything is unknown so until i fully understand the mode i am not going any further with that

edit 4: im about to attempt to change the hull to a different bone in order to make the hull disappear

edit 5: well that has got to be the funniest thing i have ever seen, and it has furthered my understanding which is good
the effect of what i did was similar to the removale of the hog wheels on inside i removed the treads and i did it in a different way (looks a bit like a mole or a rat) stranglely changing the name of the bone had no effect that i could see... must be just for refrence...also the top bone is always the 1st in the list and as far as i can see this cannot be changed

edit 6: new idea rather than trying to put treads on the warthog turn the warthog wheels into treads...

another idea... cool transporter thingy... null the treads and widen the hull...maybe add some seats

edit 7: had idea for changing top bone...(edit)it would probaly just make the whole thing disappear or freeze acutally so nvm

awe dude, dazzajay, i read ur older topic about the removing the suspension bones on the warthog, and i was playing around with that kindof stuff in a map or two of mine, and i noticed the scorpian tread, i was gonna try and make a containment with a warthog with big ole scorpian treads and i thought i was the only one that was gonna have this idea, lol. i guess alll i can say is good luck

Perhaps it is possible to extract the meta of the scorpion's mode, and inject only the treads over top of the warthog's wheels? I'm gonna' try looking into that tomorrow. Potential problems, though are the coll and phmo: don't know enough about either to do anything.

Ok maybe this may help
Using Insolence
1. In the tanks mode tag Null all the shaders except the treads.

2. Now change the [hlmt] tag for the tank turret From Null to the warthog [hlmt]

3. Open the Warthogs [mode] tag and Null the shaders for the wheels.
3a. While your still in the warthogs mode tag use the Model Sizer Plugin to increase the size to fit the Treads and so it looks good while your driving it.

4. Not sure whic plugin or what program but a long time ago ppl were making the uberchassis drivable well if you find the plugin they used you can move your hog body down enough so it fits.

5. Just balance it and maybe make it faster and you will have a hog that sounds like a tank but has treads and can fire whatever you swap the tanl turret projectile with

lol, yea, there must be a way to drop it down..... OO, now im thinking, the way might be in that model resiser plugin, if both the Z axis min and max settings are lowered equally on the jeeps [mode]

which part? the 1st or the 2nd? if you mean the 1st part, i did a test after i wrote that and i was correct. i managed to stop the rocket launcher from being able to lockon to the banshee, and still be able to lockon to everything else. right now im not revealing what i did, but maybe after a certain mod is released...

yea i already tried that, as has snaku so we're a bit ahead of you... we decided that it wasnt that good since all you could see was the treads and not there covers...as for moving the hog down, the bounding box thing might work. me and snaku tried nulling the marker for the turret but it only moved a little

Damnit, someone else found out. :P when I first started with markers this was one of the first things I learned to do, It reminded me of halo 1 quite a bit. so I kept it and I put it on my halo 2 umodded section of maps. On my hardrive I have both a modded halo 2 and a unmodded halo 2 for lan partys and kai.

its a bit more than 1 step if you dont know anything about markers, and i dont think that many people do know anything about them so...yea

does the halo 2 ce mod use this?...maybe not they prob just turned off lockon in the weap tag...if they turned it off, they might not have

only if you consider signing the map a step :P .

I don't know if halo 2 CE uses it because I have never played it. Don't even know where to download it. I don't think the people that made halo 2 ce know how to do . I belive they just removed the rocket 2ndary fire if anything.

I am not gonna be working on a hog with treds, I am working on my PP project. Its difficult but I have made progress :P

Unfournatly I will most likely only be telling one person how to do so and not be releasing it other wise, I have that person in mind don't ask who because I wont say. They are a friend. It isnt to hard to move bones, you just have to know what you are doing first :wink: . I keep most of my work a secret and never release it, if I release a mod it is usally protected because I have something special in it that I woulden't like others to know. Thats why my current project is codenamed PP. When I leave and IF I leave then I will release everything I know that I kept a secret. =P Sorry thats just the way I am, I will help people as much as I can but there are just something I would rather not reveal. :?

Edit: put up some pictures, I centerd all the suspension for the hog but I accidentaly forgot one of the suspensions so it looks funny :P

Awesome about the bone thing, man.
As for Halo 2:CE, they didn't get rid of the lock-on, they just turned it down a lot (probably just the auto--aim or something). I like the idea of getting rid of lock-on, so I'll have to try it, but on my current project, the only vehicle I'd want to take it off of is the banshee, since the other vehicles are too powerful for a person to take on, on foot.
I wonder if you could rig a vehicle to have active camo. Just giving it the shader wouldn't help the pilot, though. Is there a way to make it so it'll have camo and apply it to the pilot, too? Combine that with the no lock-on thing and call it a "Stealth." Or, to keep it in character with the covie vehicles, what would be considered a particularly stealthy ghost/paranormal thing?

i would, but i here thats shaders are a pain in the arse, so i havent given it a go yet.

Xzodia already answered that. He and I already tried it. Nulling the shaders took out the treads, too... well everything except the actual tread part (the part that goes around). So it was like a hollow tread that was near-invisible from the side. I will probably pursue my idea of extracting meta, replacing hog wheels with tank treads, reinject meta some time tomorrow. Or maybe replace the suspension arms instead, since the treads would probably spin link the wheels if I put them in that way.
