Bsp viewer speeds

Bsp viewer speeds

just a thought seeming as i have minimal ram
around 1gb
Changing my virtual memory up to around 4gb
would that help speed up bsp viewing and other loading speeds?

Or would that come down to CPU proccesing.
I'm just confused as to changing my virtual memory hasn't made a signifigant change to the slowness of the BSP viewing.

Yes, i have edited the startup exe's on my computer to keep vital resources.
Yes, i have a good DirectX for bsp viewing
Yes, i have a good CPU Dual-Core Intel® Xeon® Processor 2.80GHz

Just wondering why it's still going slow?

My geuss would be the 100+ textures and lightmap being rendered...
You should look into your Graphics since that is where most of the action occurs.

Actually it was due to how entity or whatever BSP viewer your using is coded.

I remember rendering a map with every object on a BSP like high charity without the slightest bit of choppyness. It ran perfectly smooth. And actualu even rendered more properly and in better detail than existing BSP viewers.


This all being on 512 mb of RAM.

maybe the makers of soffish will implement a more stable and smooth BSP viewer for you and the community, if they wish to.

Are you trying to view Campaign maps BSPs? that bsps are HUGE and your computer always will be slow

When viewing a MP map bsp you pc will not be tooo slow, just a bit, and you can still being usable to use it with bsp viewer executing

Maybe your pc ran out of memory if you are executing over 100 tasks at once, you should check it on Windows Task Manager

I would like, Soffish to have settings, where people with high-end hardware could benefit more from the BSP viewer. :D
