Can we replace normal campaign maps with modded ones?

Discuss Halo 2 modding, progress on figuring things out, mapfiles...you know the drill. Cheating discussion not allowed.

Can we replace normal campaign maps with modded ones?

I thought it would be fun to make a mod for a campaign map. Is it alright if I just replace the old map with the modded one, since it's not like we can use these to cheat anyways?
