What makes a sticky count as a stick

Post by bumlove »

What makes a sticky count as a stick and how could I make other projs count as well,
I know how to make projs stick to players easy enough, just getting them to count as "you stuck me with bum love" (my player name) type thing

when I first read the above I thought "well durrr" but thinking about it, I don't think scripts would do it, I can't really go down the scripts option mainly because I don't want to
Anybody what makes a stick count as a stick?
what makes a sniper kill count as a snipe?

there will most likely be a bit that needs to be ticked...

Indeed it does ticking bit 1,2 and 4 makes a projectile kill count as a stick
tried and tested
thanks to xzodia (does H2V give any descriptions for these bitmasks?)
It seems its not just 1 tick but a combination the makes it count as whatever eg beam riffle 1 , 2 & 3 sniper riffle 0 , 2 , & 3 but before you go "ah ha it must be 2 & 3 that does it" shotgun 2 & 3

Its a Material Response. Check my spike grenade i released. The one material Response that doesnt say over-penatrate would be it.

No yama you miss understand getting things to stick (to players) is quite easy <response for either hard or default set to attach top box and overperpetrate second box below>
making it count as a stick "you stuck bum love" is down to the bitmask ticks 1,2, & 4 (now I have a wraith mortar bouncing continually between two grenades which counts as a stick when someone runs into it)

Are you coming back to modding yama?

Now if I can work out the cone angle and the rest so I can have 4X the trip grenade sensors my mine will be perfect other than a fitting model (I'm wanting 4 grenades to spawn out of an effect at 90 degs from each other)

xzodia I ment counts as a hit from either the shotgun sniper or beam Its the invisible bitmask box in proj above attached super detonation damage, although I just noticed that the carb and the sniper have the same boxes ticked so that blows my theory out of the water but with only 1, 2, & 4 ticked a hit from a wraith mortar (with the plasma nades default material response) counts as a stick

*thinking* I might be right yet theres an unknown in the material responses that is either 0 or 1 I changed it on the plasma nade and it no longer counted as a stick

I Understood perfectly. Thats why i said the one the doesnt say Overpenatrate. I remember finding it when i made the spike nade, i accidentially changed it to overpenatrate and it would stick to ppl but not sticky them.

And yes i will be coming back to modding, just unsure when at this time. Busy with college but I have a one month break coming, so i might work on some halo 2 mods at that time, but I will def come back when halo 3 modding starts up.

couldn't you just duplicate the plasma grenade altogether and replace its hlmt with whatever you want

CptnNsan0 no you can't, although it would look like whatever object you swapped the hltm to it only sticks with the collision of the original plasma nade (this is for my trip mine revision 2 see downloads for revision 1)

yama your instance was a clone of a plasma nade as far as I can tell, meaning 1,2 & 4 where ticked, and yes messing with the material response for default can make it no longer count as a stick (I know at least 2 different ways to bugger it up from there)
but another proj giving it the default response from the plasma wont count as a stick until 1,2,& 4 have been ticked

So then what make a stick count as a stick? bitmasks 1 2 & 4 and the plasma nades default martial responce

the problem has been solved
