Changing the EXACT spawn points? And changing skyboxes?

Post by YagerX »

i've been moving a spawnpoint for a weapon and i want it to rest on a surface but the closest i can get it to is about a meter off the ground with about 50 cm to far right, can i manually edit the cords in entity?

oh and another question, how do i change the skybox for a map?

when you are in bsp viewer press the + and - on the numbpad to change the speed so that u can gett closer to the ground

Yes, you can edit the coordinates manually. Click the weapon in BSP Viewer, then make a note of its coordinates. Move it slightly past where you want it (into the ground and a little too far to the left), deselect it, then reselect it. Now look at the coordinates in BSP Viewer and note how they changed. You're going to have to manually alter the coordinates by a little bit less than the difference between the xyz coordinates for those two points. That will give you a good guide.

Now close the BSP Viewer and go to the meta editor for the scnr tag. Find your weapon in the netgame equipment by looking at the xyz coordinates for every itmc in your weapon's class until you see a match with that set of coordinates you wrote down (or memorized) from the beginning.

The rest is trial and error - you set the coordinates, FTP and play the map, take a peek at your weapon, and see how you need to adjust. If you have played with the yaw, pitch and roll of the weapon in BSP Viewer (e.g. to make the gun lean against the wall), the weapon's orientation may be cursed forever... See my tutorial on YPR in the tutorials section. The short version is that you must not adjust more than one angle per object in BSP Viewer. If you need to adjust more than one angle, you'll also have to do that manually.
